Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE A RATIONAL VISION OF THE CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL PHENOMENA IN MULTI-COMPONENT SYSTEMS BY DISCUSSING THE THERMODYNAMIC AND KINETIC ASPECTS.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE STUDENT
- WILL KNOW THE FUNDAMENTALS OF THE THERMODYNAMIC LAWS OF MULTICOMPONENT AND MULTIPHASE SYSTEMS
- WILL KNOW THE LAWS THAT DESCRIBE THE EVOLUTION OF CHEMICAL REACTIONS OVER TIME
- WILL UNDERSTAND THE ROLE OF TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE ON THE CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM AND HOW TO PROMOTE CHEMICAL REACTIONS FROM A THERMODYNAMIC AND KINETIC POINT OF VIEW.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- SOLVE THERMODYNAMIC AND KINETIC PROBLEMS APPLIED TO CHEMICAL REACTIONS
- PROCESS THE DATA OBTAINED FROM A SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT AND REPORT THEM IN A SCIENTIFIC REPORT WITH THE RELATED EXPERIMENTAL ERRORS
CRITICAL ASSESSMENT: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- EVALUATE THE RELIABILITY OF THE RESULTS OBTAINED IN SOLVING THEORETICAL PROBLEMS
- EVALUATE THE RELIABILITY OF THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- REPRESENT AND COMMUNICATE, THROUGH TEXTS OR VIRTUAL TOOLS, THE RESULTS OF RESEARCH OR OWN ELABORATIONS.
LEARNING ABILITY:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- USE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS AND IT ANALYSIS AND ARCHIVING RESOURCES;
- PROCEED WITH THE CONTINUOUS UPDATING OF HIS/HER KNOWLEDGE, USING THE TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE
Prerequisites
FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE OF CHEMISTRY, MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS

PRACTICAL SESSIONS IN THE LABORATORY COMPLETE THE COURSE.
Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING COURSE INCLUDES 6 CREDITS DIVIDED INTO 4 CREDITS (32 HOURS) OF LECTURES IN THE CLASSROOM, 1 CREDIT (12 HOURS) OF LABORATORY ACTIVITIES, 1 CREDIT (12 HOURS) OF NUMERICAL EXERCISES.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF WRITTEN EXERCISES FOLLOWED BY A ORAL DISCUSSION.
THREE PROBLEMS SHOULD BE SOLVED IN TWO HOURS TIME. THE EVALUATION WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE ABILITY TO DEFINE THE CHEMICAL PROBLEM UNDER STUDY BY USING THE RIGHT EQUATIONS, THE ABILITY TO ELABORATE THE DATA BY PERFORMING THE CALCULATIONS WITH THE CORRECT UNITS OF MEASURE.
THE ORAL DISCUSSION WILL TEST THE ABILITY TO EXPLAIN AND DISCUSS THE CONTENTS OF THE TEACHING COURSE.
THE EVALUATION IS IN THIRTIETHS.
STUDENTS HAVE THE POSSIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE TO 3 INTERMEDIATE TESTS, THAT WILL EXEMPT THEM FROM THE FINAL WRITTEN EXAMINATION.
