Presentation
Biometric and Image Processing Lab (BIPLab) is a research laboratory affiliated with Department of Computer Science at University of Salerno.
It is active since 2005 and is directed by prof. Nappi Michele.
The main research efforts are devoted to advanced technologies in image/video coding and analysis, biometrics and video surveillance, medical imaging.
Current research projects include computer vision, object recognition, automatic surveillance and object tracking, secure and privacy enhancing multimedia solutions, image and video compression, image segmentation, biometric authentication and content-based image retrieval.
While the emphasis is on applied research, we are also studying a number of issues of theoretical importance. Collaborations with industrial partners ensure that the research activities are linked to real applications.
