BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN GEOPHYSICAL METHODS FOR THE SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION; ACQUISITION OF APPROPRIATE SKILL ABOUT INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUES, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF EXPERIMENTAL GEOPHYSICAL MEASUREMENTS; ABILITY TO ASSESS THE APPLICABILITY OF THE GEOPHYSICAL METHODS IN THE ANALYSIS AND RESOLUTION OF VARIOUS ISSUES IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD; PROBLEM SOLVING USING A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH. |
Prerequisites | |
---|---|
KNOWLEDGE OF MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS AND CLASSICAL PHYSICS (I.E. POTENTIAL FIELDS, ELECTROMAGNETICS, ELASTICITY)ACQUIRED IN A I LEVEL UNIVERSITY COURSE ARE NECESSARY. |
Contents | |
---|---|
THE COURSE PROVIDES THE THEORETICAL BASIS AND PRACTICES OF THE MAIN GEOPHYSICAL METHODS, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO TO THE APPLICATION TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES. THE COURSE INCLUDES 32H (4CFU) OF CLASS LESSONS AND 24H (2CFU) OF EXERCISES IN THE FIELD AND IN THE CLASS TO PERFORM DATA ACQUISITION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION. LECTURER SUBJECTS: 1. GEOPHYSICAL METHODS: ROCKS PHYSICAL PROPERTIES, DATA ACQUISTION PROCEDURES, GEOPHYSICAL DATA ANALYSIS, DATA INVERSION (1CFU) 2. ELECROMAGNETIC METHODS: ROCKS ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY. DC ELECTRIC METHOD (1CFU) 3. SEISMIC METHODS: ELASTIC PARAMETERS, REFRACTION AND REFLECTION SEISMIC METHODS, SEISMIC TOMOPGRAPHY (1CFU) 4 GEOPHYSICAL METHODS FOR THE SEISMIC MICROZONATION, FOR THE LANDSLIDE MONITORING, FOR THE RESEARCH OF POLLUTION PLUMES (1/2 CFU) 5. ELEMENTS OF GRAVITY AND MAGNETIC METHOD (1/2 CFU) EXERCISE SUBJECTS (2CFU) 1. ERT DATA ACQUISTION 2. REFRACTION DATA ACQUISITION 3. DATA INVERSION |
Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
THE COURSE HAS CLASSROOM LESSONS (32H)WITH SLIDES AND FIELD EXERCISES (24H), FOR THE EXPERIMENTAL FIELD ACQUISTION ANALYSIS AND THEIR ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
THE LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED GETTING THROUGH AN ORAL EXAMINATION. THE EXAMINATION CONSISTS IN THE DISCUSSION OF A TECHNICAL REPORT ON THE FIELD EXPERIMENTS. THE ORAL TEST (ABOUT 40MIN) IS FINALIZED TO ASSESS THE LEVEL OF APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING REACHED BY THE STUDENT ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENTS INDICATED IN THE PROGRAM AND THE VERIFICATION OF THE ACQUISITION OF APPROPRIATE SKILL AND CRITICAL SENSE ON THE GEOPHYSICAL METHODS. ORAL TEST WILL VERIFY THE COMMUNICATION CAPACITY WITH LANGUAGE PROPERTIES AND AUTONOMOUS ORGANIZATION OF EXPOSURE. |
