GENERAL OBJECTIVE - THE COURSE INTENDS TO: PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH BASIC KNOWLEDGE ON THE STRUCTURAL ORGANIZATION OF EUKARYOTIC CELLS; PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH A GENERAL FRAMEWORK OF THE FUNCTIONAL MEANING AND RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT CELLULAR ORGANELLES; OUTLINE THE MECHANISMS OF INTEGRATION OF THE ACTIVITIES OF SPECIALIZED CELLS TO FORM TISSUES; PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE ON THE STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL ORGANIZATION OF TISSUES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - THE STUDENT WILL KNOW THE BASIC DISCIPLINARY FOUNDATIONS OF CELL AND TISSUE BIOLOGY; WILL DEVELOP OBSERVATION SKILLS OF CELLULAR, TISSUE AND ORGAN STRUCTURES, AND OF THE MAIN BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES; WILL UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF A BIOLOGICAL MACROMOLECULE, AN INTRACELLULAR ORGANELLE AND A TISSUE. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE BASIC TOOLS TO UNDERSTAND AND DISCUSS THE MAIN CONCEPTS RELATED TO CELL AND TISSUE BIOLOGY. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO EXAMINE REPRESENTATIVE IMAGES OF CELLS AND TISSUES; TO DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT CYTO-HISTOLOGICAL PREPARATIONS AND THE DIFFERENT PREPARATION TECHNIQUES OF THE SAME. AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT - THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO ANALYZE AND DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN DIFFERENT OPTIONS; ABILITY TO EVALUATE AND SELECT THE OPTIMAL SOLUTION TO RESPOND TO A SPECIFIC PROBLEM. COMMUNICATION SKILLS - THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE AND DESCRIBE THE BASIC NOTIONS OF CELL BIOLOGY, ANIMAL CYTO-HISTOLOGICAL STRUCTURES AND BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES USING A SPECIFIC VOCABULARY. LEARNING ABILITY - IMPROVEMENT OF THE ABILITY TO USE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS AND IT RESOURCES AND TO ACQUIRE AND CONNECT INFORMATION INDEPENDENTLY. |

THE COURSE PROVIDES 88 HOURS (10 CFU) OF DIDACTICS DIVIDED INTO THEORY LESSONS (8 CFU) AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES (1 CFU), AND LABORATORY (1 CFU). THE CLASSROOM EXERCISES WILL CONSIST OF QUESTIONNAIRES AND TESTS ADMINISTERED TO STUDENTS DURING THE COURSE IN ORDER TO MONITORING LEARNING AND, POSSIBLY, PREPARING ACTIONS TO RECOVER AND/OR ENHANCE THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ACQUIRED. THE LABORATORY WILL PROVIDE THE ACQUISITION OF THE MAIN TECHNIQUES FOR THE PREPARATION OF HISTOLOGICAL SAMPLES AND THE RECOGNITION OF SAMPLES BY THE MICROSCOPE. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF THE TEACHING WILL BE VERIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM TEST. THE EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF TWO ORAL INTERVIEWS, ONE FOR EACH MODULE, TO CHECK THE LEARNING OF THE TOPICS PROPOSED BY THE TEACHERS DURING THE COURSE. THE FINAL VOTE WILL BE EXPRESSED IN THIRTYTH AND WILL CORRESPOND TO THE ARITHMETIC MEAN OF THE MARKS OF THE TWO MODULES. THE RECORD OF THE FINAL MARK IS SUBJECT TO PASSING THE EXAMS RELATED TO THE TWO MODULES WITH A MARK NOT LESS THAN 18/30. FOR BOTH MODULES, THE MINIMUM MARK (18/30) IS REACHED WHEN THE EXAM DEMONSTRATES THE ACHIEVEMENT OF A SUFFICIENT LEVEL IN KNOWLEDGE, LANGUAGE ABILITY AND QUALITY OF PRESENTATION. THE MAXIMUM MARK (30/30) IS ACHIEVED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES, WITH THE EXAM, FULL AND COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE AND OWNERSHIP OF LANGUAGE ON THE TOPICS ADDRESSED, WITH MAXIMUM QUALITY OF PRESENTATION AND ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE IN PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES. HONORS ARE AWARDED WHEN THE EXAM DEMONSTRATES, IN ADDITION TO THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE RESULT IN BOTH MODULES, A PARTICULAR QUALITY OF PRESENTATION WITH CRITICAL ANALYSIS SKILLS. |
