THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN ASPECTS OF NORTH AMERICAN LITERATURE AND TO RELATE THEM TO THE PARALLEL EUROPEAN MOVEMENTS, FURTHER INVESTIGATING LITERARY LANGUAGE AND THE INTERACTION BETWEEN DIFFERENT CULTURAL PHENOMENA. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW: - THE MAIN LITERARY MOVEMENTS AND THE THEMATIC CORES PERTAINING TO THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY IN THE UNITED SATES; - DIFFERENT METHODOLOGIES OF ANALYSIS OF THE LITERARY TEXT; - THE CONTEMPORARY CRITICAL DEBATE. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO; - COMPREHEND A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT TEXTS ; - APPLY APPROPRIATE ANALYTICAL AND CRITICAL TOOLS TO THE LITERARY TEXT; - UNDERTAKE RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF NORTH AMERICAN LITERATURE AND CULTURE. MAKING JUDGEMENTS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - AUTONOMOUSLY SELECT AND APPLY APPROPRIATE ANALYTICAL AND CRITICAL TOOLS TO THE LITERARY TEXT; - FORMULATE AUTONOMOUS JUDGEMENTS ON NORTH-AMERICAN LITERATURE AND CULTURE; - MAKE COMPARISONS BETWEEN DIFFERENT CULTURAL CONTEXTS. COMMUNICATION SKILLS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - SUMMARIZE AND DISCUSS INFORMATION GATHERED FROM DIFFERENT ORAL AND WRITTEN SOURCES; - TO PRESENT THE CONTENTS OF THE DISCIPLINE AND THE CRITICAL DISCOURSE WITH FULL MASTERY OF BOTH ITALIAN AND ENGLISH. LEARNING SKILLS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: -ADVANCE AN ORIGINAL INTERPRETATION OF A TEXT OR A LITERARY PHENOMENON; - SELECT THE METHODOLOGICAL TOOL APPROPRIATE TO UPGRADE THEIR KNOWLEDGE; - DEVELOP AN APTITUDE FOR LITERARY RESEARCH. |
