THE COURSE OF CRITICAL WRITING AIMS TO PROVIDE THE LITERARY METHODOLOGICAL ‘TOOLS’ AND THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT MOVEMENTS OF LITERARY CRITICISM DURING THE TWENTIETH-CENTURY AND THE FIRST DECADE OF THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY (THE ITALIAN CRITICAL TRADITION, THEMATIC CRITICISM AND STYLISTIC CRITICISM, LITERARY COMPARATIVE STUDIES, STRUCTURALISM AND POST-STRUCTURALISM, PSYCHOANALYTIC CRITICISM, CULTURAL STUDIES AND TRANSLATION STUDIES). IN PARALLEL, A SELECTION OF ITALIAN AND FOREIGN LITERARY WORKS WILL BE DISCUSSED DURING THE CLASS, THUS OFFERING THE STUDENTS A BROADER THEORETICAL REFLECTION ON WRITING AND DIFFERENT CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE TEXTES. |

THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE AN ABILITY TO STUDY THROUGH AN INTERDISCIPLINARY ANALYSIS. THE DISCIPLINES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEFINITION OF THESE SKILLS ARE: PHILOLOGY AND LINGUISTICS; GRAMMATICAL AND LEXICAL ANALYSIS OF A TEXT; THE ADEQUACY OF THE COMMUNICATIVE CONTEXT; ABILITY TO FRAME GEOGRAPHICAL, HISTORICAL AND RELIGIOUS PROBLEMS; THE PROPER USAGE OF THE SOURCES; ABILITY TO FRAME THE JUNCTIONS OF THE HISTORY OF THE VISUAL, PERFORMANCE AND MEDIA ARTS, ANALYZING THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE HISTORICAL-CULTURAL CONTEXT; SKILLS IN SPOKEN, WRITTEN AND MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION, BOTH IN ITALIAN AND IN ENGLISH. |

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING WILL BE GAINED BY HISTORICAL-LITERARY CONTEXTUALIZATION; COMPARISON OF THE DIFFERENT LITERARY GENRES; COMPARISON OF THE TRANSLATION THE FORTUNE OF TEXTS IN THE VARIOUS NATIONAL LITERATURES. |

LEARNING SKILLS ARE DEVELOPED THROUGH THE STUDENT'S ASSIDUOUS PARTICIPATION IN THE TEACHING ACTIVITIES ENVISAGED BY THE COURSE AND, ABOVE ALL, THROUGH STUDY AND RESEARCH. ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN LESSONS, INTERACTION WITH THE PROFESSOR AND OTHER STUDENTS ARE SIGNIFICANT ELEMENTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING SKILLS. MID-TERM WRITTEN EXAM AND FINAL EVALUATION TEST WILL BE FUNDAMENTAL TO PASS THROUGH THE EXAM |
