Rossella LATORRACA | Curriculum

Rossella Latorraca is a researcher at the University of Salerno and a professional translator with over ten years of experience in technical and scientific translation. In 2018, she earned a PhD in Literary, Linguistic, and Comparative Studies from the University of Naples “L’Orientale,” with a focus on Translation Studies and English linguistics. During her doctoral research, she developed a new transdisciplinary approach to observational learning applied to translator training. This achievement earned her the title of Doctor Europaeus and, in 2019, the AIA/Carocci Award. In 2011, she received the Naples Raconte Literary Prize for FSL authors and was awarded two Pannonicum grants (2012 and 2013) by the Hungarian Ministry of Education to conduct studies at the Balassi Institute and Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest. She is the author of monographs, scholarly articles, and essays focusing on cognitive translatology, the role of AI in the translation profession, and, in 2023, she introduced the concept of linguistic chimera as a theoretical framework for describing and analyzing English as a global contact lingua franca (ELF). She serves on the advisory board of the International Society for Historical Lexicology and Lexicography and the National Association of Fixed-Term Researchers (ARTeD). She is also actively involved in several other disciplinary and professional associations, including AIA, EST, REII, Women in Localization, and EUATC. Currently, she coordinates funded research projects exploring the interaction between AI, academic discourse, translation issues, and linguistic biases.
