Objectives
THE GOAL OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE SPECIFIC AND INNOVATIVE KNOWLEDGE ON THE BIOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY AND ON CONSERVATIVE AND PRECISION AGROTECHNICS FOR:
-STRATEGIC HERBACEOUS CROPS FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN AREA (CEREALS, LEGUMES, FORAGE, MEDICINAL PLANTS, INDUSTRIAL CROPS);
-HORTICULTURAL PLANTS IN THE OPEN FIELD AND PROTECTED STRUCTURES

THE MAIN KNOWLEDGE WILL BE:
- UNDERSTANDING OF THE PRODUCTIVE AND QUALITATIVE INDICATORS THAT QUALIFY VEGETABLE PRODUCTIONS;
- THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRODUCTIVE RESPONSE TO CONSERVATIVE CULTIVATION TECHNIQUES AND METHODS TO OPTIMIZE THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PARAMETERS THAT INFLUENCE THE GROWTH OF PLANTS AND THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCTIONS;
-THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PRECISION TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGIES AND BIOLOGICAL VARIABLES THAT REGULATE HORTICULTURAL SYSTEMS.

THE MAIN SKILLS WILL BE:
-THE ABILITY TO DEVELOP AN EFFICIENT AGRONOMIC MANAGEMENT OF PRODUCTIVE INPUTS APPLIED
TO STRATEGIC CROPS FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN AREA TO OPEN FIELD AND PROTECTED HORTICULTURAL SYSTEMS;
- TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO SPECIFIC PROBLEMS IN THE MANAGEMENT OF HERBACEOUS AND HORTICULTURAL CROPPING SYSTEMS.
Prerequisites
THERE ARE NO FORMAL PREREQUISITES IN TERMS OF PREVIOUSLY PASSED COURSES TO ATTEND THIS COURSE, BUT TO BETTER UNDERSTAND MOST OF THE TOPICS PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE, KNOWLEDGE OF AGRONOMY, HORTICULTURE, GENETIC IS REQUIRED.

PRESENTATION OF THE COURSE: CONTEXT FOR STRATEGIC CROPS FOR MEDITERRANEAN AREAS
PLANT COMMUNITY PRODUCTIVITY
TREATMENT OF STRATEGIC GROUPINGS: CEREALS, LEGUMES, MEDICINAL PLANTS, FORAGE, INDUSTRIAL CROPS.
FOR EACH GROUPING THE MORPHOLOGICAL, ECOLOGICAL AND PHENOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS WILL BE TREATED FOR THE SPECIES OF GREATEST INTEREST, THE FACTORS DETRMINING THE PRODUCTIVE AND QUALITATIVE RESPONSE OF THE YIELD, THE TRADITIONAL AND INNOVATIVE PRODUCTION DESTINATIONS, THE RECOVERY OF PRODUCTION RESIDUES.

THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM WITH THE MINIMUM RATE OF 18/30. THE FINAL EXAM IS AN ORAL INTERVIEW WHICH IS BASED ON THE DISCUSSION
ABOUT THE PROGRAM OF THE COURSE.

UNIT: PRECISION HORTICULTURE IN OPEN FIELD AND PROTECTED ENVIRONMENT
THE ASSESSMENT OF KNOWLEDGE WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGH ORAL EXAM THAT WILL BE CONSIDERED PASSED WITH A MINIMUM SCORE OF 18/30.

THE FINAL VOTE, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS, WILL BE GIVEN BY THE ARITHMETIC AVERAGE OF THE VOTES REPORTED IN THE INDIVIDUAL UNIT PASSED.
