Davide DE BIASE Curriculum
Dr. Davide De Biase, born in Naples on 07/04/1985, graduated in 2010 in Veterinary Medicine at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production of the University of Naples "Federico II" and in the same year obtained the qualification to the profession of Veterinary Doctor at the same university. In 2012, Dr. De Biase is a Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Dr. Kent, Division of Pediatric Genetics, School of Medicine, University of Utah, for studies on a new mouse model for disease research related to galactose metabolism/galactosemia. Since January 2014 he has been an Auditor for Quality Management Systems. In March 2014 he obtained the Specialization Diploma in "Science and Medicine of Laboratory Animals"at the University of Naples Federico II, with the experimental thesis in Pathological Anatomy entitled "Essential and current methods for a practical approach to comparative neuropathology"; Supervisor prof. Orlando Paciello. In June 2016 he attended the Specialization in Veterinary Forensic Pathology at the University of Naples "Federico II" - Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production. In February 2018 he obtained the title of PhD in "Veterinary Sciences" - University of Naples "Federico II" discussing the thesis entitled "New perspectives in the mechanisms of aging in animals"; Tutor: prof. Orlando Paciello. From March 2018 to date she has been Anatomic Pathology Resident for the American College of Veterinary Pathologists - University of Milan - Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences (Tutor prof. Paola Roccabianca) with passing, in April 2020, the phase 1 exam (General pathology). From July 2020 to date, Qualification as Associate Professor for the Competition Sector 07/H2 Veterinary Pathology and Inspection of Food of Animal Origin. In September 2024 he obtained a two-year Master's Degree in Veterinary Pathology at the University of Padua. From April 2024 Designation as a member of GEV 7 for the VQR 2020-2024, following the draw procedure held on 8 April 2024 or following the designation by the Board of Directors with Resolution no. 71 of 4 April 2024.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
The research lines focus mainly on:
- the study of the pathogenetic mechanisms of central nervous system and skeletal muscle aging;
- immunopathology of infectious and parasitic diseases;
- tumors in animals;
- Mouse models of human and animal pathologies;
- Veterinary Forensic Pathology.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS
- Winner of the Young Investigator Awards – "Natural disease" section for the contribution: Davide De Biase, Francesco Prisco, Giuseppe Piegari, Arianna Ilsami, Ilaria d'Aquino, Valeria Baldassarre, Serenella Papparella, Orlando Paciello RNAScope in situ hybridization as a novel technology for the assessment of c-KIT m-RNA expression in canine Mast Cell tumors. Natural Disease Poster Session – ACVP 2020 Annual Meeting (Virtual) 30 October – 1 November 2020.
- Winner of the first prize for the best presentation - Davide De Biase, Ilaria d'Aquino, Michele D'Antonio, Giuseppe Piegari and Orlando Paciello. Forensic investigations for the definition of illegal predatory activity by birds of prey. 2nd SISFV National Conference 7-9 October 2022 – Amalfi.

- Since 2013 he has been a member of the Italian Association of Veterinary Pathology (AIPVet);
- Since 2020 he has been a member (Trainee affiliate) of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP);
- Since 2020 he has been a Founding Member of the Italian Society of Veterinary Forensic Sciences;
- Member of the Working Group of the Italian Association of Veterinary Pathologists (AIPVet) on Soft Tissue TumorsMember of the Working Group of the Italian Association of Veterinary Pathologists (AIPVet) on Toxicological Pathology of Laboratory Animals;
- Member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Veterinary Forensic Sciences (SISFV).
PARTICIPATION IN EDITORIAL COMMITTEES OF JOURNALS AND/OR EDITORIAL SERIES
- From January 2019 to date he has been a Reviewer for the MDPI publishing house.
- From April 2020 to date he is Guest Editor for the Special Issue in the journal Animals (IF: 2,32) entitled "One Health: The Contribution of Veterinary Medicine to Advance the Health of Humans"
- From March 2021 to date he is Guest Editor for the Special Issue in the journal Animals (IF: 2,32) entitled "Veterinary Forensic Medicine and Forensic Science in Veterinary Practice"
- From November 2023 to date he is co-author of chapter 3 "Skeletal Muscles" of the Manual "Veterinary Pathological Anatomy" by Franco Guarda, Maria Teresa Capucchio and Massimiliano Tursi – Edra Edizioni.
CLINICAL CARE ACTIVITIES
- Designated Veterinarian at the User Establishments (Animal Enclosure) of the Mercogliano Oncology Research Center (CROM) and National Cancer Institute – "G. Pascale" Foundation.
- Support to cytopathological, histopathological and necroscopic diagnostic activities within the collaboration agreement between DIFARMA and the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production of the University of Naples "Federico II (DIPMVPA).
