Lidia FOTIA Curriculum

Lidia Fotia graduated with honors in 2010, earning her Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria. In March 2014, she was awarded a Ph.D. from the same university, with her dissertation titled "Social Networks and Privacy Issues."

From August 2014 to November 2018, she served as a Research Fellow at the Department of Information Engineering, Infrastructure, and Sustainable Energy (DIIES) at Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria. From July 2019 to June 2020, she held the same position at the Department of Civil, Energy, Environmental, and Materials Engineering (DICEAM) of the same university. Subsequently, from October 2020 to September 2021, she was a Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Engineering, Modeling, Electronics, and Systems (DIMES) of the University of Calabria. From December 2021 to October 2024, she was an RTD-B researcher at the Department of Industrial Engineering (DIEM) at the University of Salerno. Since November 2024, she has been an Associate Professor at the same department. Since 2022, she has been a member of the DIEM Tutoring Committee.

Her research focuses primarily on social networks and social internetworking analysis, privacy, security, trust, reputation, intelligent agents, and IoT. She has co-authored over 53 publications in international journals and conference proceedings, some in collaboration with prestigious foreign universities.

Lidia Fotia received the Best Paper Award for the following article:

She served as Guest Editor for the Special Issue "Data Mining and the Future of Cybersecurity" in the journal Big Data and Cognitive Computing (/journal/BDCC) (ISSN 2504-2289). Additionally, she co-edited the book "Security, Trust and Privacy Models, and Architectures in IoT Environments" in the IoT series, along with F. Messina, D. Rosaci, and G.M.L. Sarnè, published by Springer Nature Switzerland AG, EISSN 1424-8220.

She co-chaired the "Security and Trusted Computing" track area at the 13th and 14th International Conferences on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems. She also chaired the special track "Trust and Reputation in Intelligent Environments" at the 14th International Symposium on Intelligent Distributed Computing (IDC’21). Additionally, she has served on the local committees of several international workshops and conferences, including IDC20 and GBR23.

She is a member of numerous program committees, serves as a reviewer for various international journals, and is part of the editorial boards of the following journals: Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, The Computer Journal, and Journal of Universal Computer Science.
