Objectives
Principles of pharmacology module.

To acquire knowledge of the principles of general pharmacology, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics.
To be able to apply the acquired knowledge of the mechanism of action of drugs for the treatment of human diseases and for the evaluation of drug interactions and adverse events.

Pharmaceutical chemistry module.

Acquisition of knowledge of the chemical basis of drug activity with regard to both pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Acquisition of the chemical basis for understanding selected classes of drugs of both synthetic and natural origin.
Application of the acquired knowledge of the mechanism of action of drugs to the evaluation of possible interactions between drugs and herbal products and possible adverse reactions.

Teaching Methods
MODULE OF PHARMACOLOGY PRINCIPLES
THE COURSE INCLUDES 48 HOURS OF ASSISTED TEACHING (6 CFU) AND IS DIVIDED INTO FRONTAL LESSONS DELIVERED IN THE CLASSROOM WITH THE AID OF PROJECTIONS AND ADDRESS ALL THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE PROGRAM. ATTENDANCE OF CLASSROOM LESSONS IS MANDATORY. IN ORDER TO TAKE THE FINAL EXAM, THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ATTENDED AT LEAST 70% OF THE HOURS REQUIRED FOR FRONTAL TEACHING. THE METHOD OF VERIFICATION OF ATTENDANCE IS GENERALLY ELECTRONIC (EASYCOURSE).
MODULE OF MEDICINAL CHEMSITRY PRINCIPLES
THE COURSE INCLUDES 48 HOURS OF ASSISTED TEACHING (6 CFU). POWERPOINT AS A VISUAL AID WILL BE USED FOR LECTURES AND ALL THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE PROGRAM WILL BE ADDRESSED. ATTENDANCE OF LECTURES IN CLASSROOM IS MANDATORY. IN ORDER TO TAKE THE FINAL EXAM, THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ATTENDED AT LEAST 70% OF THE HOURS PROVIDED BY FRONTAL TEACHING. THE PRESENCE CHECKING MODE IS GENERALLY ELECTRONIC TYPE (EASYBADGE)

Verification of learning
FOR THE PHARAMNCOLOGY MODULE THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES ARE VERIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM WITH EVALUATION IN THIRTIETHS. FOR THE PHARMACOLOGY MODULE THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF AN INTERVIEW WITH QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION ON THE PROGRAM LASTING ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THE ORAL TEXT IS FINALIZED IN ASSESSING THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING REACHED BY THE STUDENT ON THE CONTENTS OF THE ENTIRE COURSE AND TO VERIFY THE CAPACITY OF EXPOSURE USING APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY AND THE ABILITY TO AUTONOMOUSLY MANAGE THE THEORETICAL TOPICS. THE TEST IS EVALUATED IN THIRTIETHS AND IS PASSED WITH THE MINIMUM GRADE OF 18/30.
FOR THE MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY MODULE, THE FINAL TEST IS BASED ON A MANDATORY WRITTEN TEST FOLLOWED BY OPTIONAL (STUDENT CHOICE) ORAL TEST, TAKING PALCE IN DIFFERENT SCHEDULED DAYS. THE WRITTEN TEST CONSISTS OF 4 OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE ENTIRE PROGRAMME. THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF AN INTERVIEW OF ABOUT 15 MINUTES FINALIZED IN ASSESSING THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING REACHED BY THE STUDENT ON THE CONTENTS OF THE ENTIRE COURSE AND TO VERIFY THE CAPACITY OF EXPOSURE USING APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY AND THE ABILITY TO AUTONOMOUSLY MANAGE THE THEORETICAL TOPICS. THE EXAM IS EVALUATED IN THIRTIETHS AND IS CONSIDERED PASSED WITH THE MINIMUM GRADE OF 18/30.
FOR THE MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY MODULE, AT THE END OF THE FIRST HALFSEMESTER (MIDDEL OF APRIL) AND AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER (END OF MAY) , TWO PARTIAL TESTS (PIIT) WILL BE ADMINISTERED, AS WRITTEN TEST (2 HOURS LASTING) ALSO WITH AN EVALUATION IN THIRTIETHS. PASSING THE PARTIAL TESTS EXEMPTS THE STUDENT FROM THE MANDATORY WRITTEN FINAL TEST; THE FINAL RESULTS OF THE TWO PARTIAL TESTS WILL BE THE MATHEMATICAL AVERAGE. THE EXEMPTION IS VALID THROUGH ALL THE FOLLOWING SEMESTER.
