Objectives | |

The course aims to provide the student with advanced theoretical and methodological knowledge for the sociological analysis of well-being processes in sports and physical activities. The course also intends to offer the possibility of developing the ability to apply the knowledge learned in the management of sporting and physical activities, with a view to spreading social well-being and active citizenship. Knowledge and skills: The course aims to provide students with the tools to acquire an advanced knowledge of the main analytical perspectives and key concepts of the discipline, with specific reference to those that affect the well-being produced by sporting and physical activities, as well as understanding skills that allow the development of original and innovative interpretations for the sociological analysis of processes for social well-being in sports and physical activities. Ability to apply knowledge and skills: The teaching aims to enable students to acquire the ability to apply their knowledge and integrate the information available for the analysis, design, organization and management of services and facilities for sport, physical activities and social well-being from an educational perspective. Furthermore, we aim for students to demonstrate that they have acquired the ability to plan, coordinate and direct sports activities in sports associations, clubs and organisations, also in terms of socio-educational development policies, diffusion of active citizenship and promotion of wellness. |

THe coursE AIMS TO INTRODUCE students to the sociological analyis of WELLNESS, CONCEIVED AS A STATE OF HARMONY RESULTING FROM A BALANCE BETWEEN MIND, BODY AND PSYCHE. ON THE ONE HAND, WELLNESS CONSISTS OF A GOOD STATE OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FITNESS RESULTING MAINLY FROM CONSTANT MOTOR ACTIVITY (FITNESS). ON THE OTHER HAND, WELLNESS CONSISTS IN A FEELING OF PLEASURE AND CARE THAT IS LINKED TO A PSYCHOLOGICAL, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL WELL-BEING (WELL-BEING). THE CONCEPT OF HEALTH ITSELF INCREASINGLY RELIES TO THE WHOLE GOOD EXISTENCE OF THE HUMAN BEING, WITH THE CONVERGENCE OF PSYCHOPHYSICAL, MENTAL, SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL ASPECTS. THIS MODULE WILL EXPLORE VARIOUS SOCIAL PRACTICES OF WELL-BEING AND CARE RELATED TO THE DIMENSION OF WELLNESS BOTH FROM A THEORETICAL AND EMPIRICAL POINT OF VIEW. THE MODULE WILL FOCUS IN PARTICULAR ON THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE NEW EMERGING PHENOMENA MENTIONED ABOVE FOR DIFFERENT SPHERES OF SOCIETY, SUCH AS CULTURE, SPORT, LIFESTYLES AND CONSUMPTION. |

THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 48 HOURS OF FACE TO FACE CLASS INSTRUCTION. DURING LECTURES, THE PRESENTATION OF CONTENTS WILL BE SUPPORTED BY WORKSHOPS, CASE STUDIES AND SIMULATION LABS. |

The exam consists of the PREPARATION OF A WRITTEN REPORT AND an ORAL DISCUSSION, WHICH WILL BE HELD IN CORRESPONDENCE WITH THE EXAMINATION DATES SCHEDULED BY THE DEPARTMENT, AIMED AT ASSESSING THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS. THE ASSESSMENT WILL BE EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS. THE MARK (MINIMUM 18, MAXIMUM 30 WITH POSSIBLE HONORS) IS AWARDED TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE FOLLOWING DIMENSIONS: MASTERY OF THE CONTENTS, APPROPRIATENESS OF THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL REFERENCES, ABILITY TO PROPOSE COHERENT EXAMPLES, CLARITY OF THE ARGUMENTATION, PROPERTY OF LANGUAGE. |
