THE COURSE INTRODUCES THE STUDENTS TO THE STRUCTURE OF MATTER IN TERMS OF THE ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE OF ATOMS AND MOLECULES. A LARGE FOCUS WILL BE ON THE NATURE OF THE CHEMICAL BOND AND ITS INFLUENCE ON THE MACROSCOPIC PROPERTIES OF MATTER. THE THERMODYNAMIC AND KINETIC PRINCIPLES REGULATING THE CHEMICAL PROCESSES WILL BE ILLUSTRATED AND DISCUSSED. THE COURSE PROVIDE A CULTURAL BACKGROUND FOR THE SUCCEEDING COURSE OF CHEMISTRY AND IT GIVES THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY TO UNDERSTAND THE MAIN CHEMICAL PHENOMENA. MOREOVER, IT WILL GIVE INFORMATION ABOUT THE QUANTITATIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE REACTANTS AND PRODUCTS. |

HYDROLYSIS OF SALTS. DETERMINING SOLUBILITY OF SLIGHTLY SOLUBLE SALTS. COMMON ION EFFECT. CHEMICAL THERMODYNAMICS. CHEMICAL KINETICS. ELECTROCHEMISTRY. ELECTROCHEMICAL CELLS. STANDARD REDUCTION POTENTIALS NERNST EQUATION. THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF THE TEACHING IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM THAT IS EVALUATED IN THIRTY. THE EXAM CONSISTS IN AN ORAL EXAMINATION, WHICH MUST BE PRECEDED BY A POSITIVE MARK FOR THE WRITTEN EXAM OF STOCHIOMETRY. THE WRITTEN TEST INVOLVES THE RESOLUTION OF AT LEAST 4 STECHIOMETRIC EXERCISES. THE TEST TAKES PLACE BEFORE THE ORAL TEST AND IS CONSIDERED TO BE OVERCOME WITH THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE MINIMUM PRESCRIBED SCORE. THE WRITTEN TEST USUALLY LASTS NOT LESS THAN 120 MINUTES AND IS AIMED AT VERIFYING THE ABILITY TO PROPERLY APPLY THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE, THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROPOSED PROBLEMS. STUDENTS ATTENDING THE COURSE HAVE THE CHANCE OF TAKING THREE WRITTEN TESTS, WHOSE POSITIVE RESULTS, CAN BE WORTH THE EXEMPTION OF THE FINAL WRITTEN TEST. THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF AN INTERVIEW WITH QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENTS OF THE TEACHING PROGRAM AND IS INTENDED TO ASCERTAIN THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ACQUIRED BY THE STUDENT AS WELL AS TO VERIFY THE EXPOSURE CAPACITY BY USING THE APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY AND THE ABILITY TO INDEPENDENTLY ORGANIZE THE EXHIBITION ON THE SAME SUBJECTS WITH A THEORETICAL CONTENT. |
