Ernesto Reverchon was born in Mercato San Severino (SA, Italy) in 1954. Since 1999, he is full professor of Chemical Plants Design and has been the Coordinator of the PhD Studies in Chemical Engineering (from 1999 to 2006) and of PhD Studies in Industrial Engineering (from 2015 to 2018) at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Salerno, Italy.

Presently, he is the Rector Delegate for IMAST (Polymeric Materials and Composite Engineering Society), the Rector Delegate for international relationships with Russian Federation and Associated Member of the Research Center of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology (NANOMATES) at the University of Salerno, Italy.

Among his research areas are (a) nutraceutical and pharmaceutical compounds extraction, (b) micro and nanoparticles production, (c) microcapsules, (d) membranes, scaffolds and aerogels, and (e) liposomes and nanosomes formation. He has also worked at the development of some industrial plants related to the applications of supercritical fluids in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical field. Since 2019, he is Associate Editor of The Journal of Supercritical Fluids. His scientific activities counts more than 450 scientific publications on international Journals, among them more than 320 are related to supercritical fluid processing; furthermore, he is the inventor of 18 patents, of which 7 international patents (WIPO released). He is co-author of 1 book and of 9 chapters in international scientific books. His work has been widely cited by other researchers (11067 citations with h-index of 55; source: Scopus citation overview, 22th of January 2019).
