prof. Libero SESTI OSSÉO - short CV
Libero SESTI OSSÉO was born in Italy (1957). He graduated in Industrial Engineering, specialization on Chemical Engineering at University of Calabria, Cosenza, Italy (1982).
After obligatory one year of military service, he was appointed as Process Engineer/senior Process Engineer in KTI Spa in Rome/Zoetermeer (NL) from 1984 to 1990.
From 1990 until 1998 he was at University of Salerno as Chemical Engineering Assistent Professor. From 1998 until today he is at University of Salerno Associate Profess in Chemical Plant chair.
Professional activities
Process Engineer (1984-1988) in KTI-Rome (I)
Thermal design: Design of refinery fired heaters, fired heater reactors (steam reforming and steam cracking), revamping of waste incineration plant and flue gas treatment, solid and liquid industrial refuse incineration by bubbling and circulating fluid bed, hydrogen plant (technical proposal)
Senior Process Engineer –(1988-1990) in KTI-Rome (I) and KTI Zoetermeer (NL)
Process Head in Hydrogen (OKI Korea), Oxo and Ethylene plants (hot section, Enimont Brindisi)
R&D activities
Development of a research project to develop a new steam cracking reactor technology based on Circulating bed (Oltek consortium), innovation in EDF furnace reactor to produce Teflon (Solvay, Tavaux (F)), and for refuse incineration using Circulating Fluid Bed Technology (Enea, Rome).
Scientific and Academic activity (from 1990 to date)
The research activity of Libero SESTI OSSÉO concerns the study of several issues of chemical and food unit operation and/or plants. In particular, he has dealt with
a) Supercritical fluids applications in extraction and separation and reaction processes
b) Phases interchange studies applied in the food processes
c) Application of circulating fluidized beds to chemical reactor
Author of more than 70 papers, on refereed international journals on Chemical Engineering and on proceedings of international conferences

prof. Libero SESTI OSSÉO - Breve CV
Libero Sesti Osséo è Professore Associato di Impianti Chimici presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale dell'Università degli Studi di Salerno, dove insegna nel Corso di Laurea in Ingegneria Chimica “Impianti dell’Industria di Processo” e nel Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Chimica “Impianti Chimici II”. E’ stato titolare negli anni dei corsi di Unit Operations and Advances Unit Operation, Dinamica e Controllo dei Processi Chimici, Food Processing, Ingegneria Chimica Ambientale nei corsi di Laura di Ingegneria Chimica e Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Chimica e Food Engineering.
E’ stato vicedirettore in corsi Executive per lo sviluppo di competenze trasversali per dirigenti d’azienza “Sa.Le, Salerno Leadership”, presso l’Università di Salerno nel 2018 e del corso Executive “Achieving Results” presso Bologna Business School, nel 2021.
Attualmente si occupa di processi innovativi dell’economia circolare, Life Cycle Assesment e recupero dei metalli pregiati presenti nelle batterie per automotive a fine vita. Ha effettuato principalmente studi sul Circulating Fluid Bed (CFB) e sulle sue possibili applicazioni reattoristiche endotermiche ad alta temperatura, sui processi di estrazione e concentrazione con fluidi supercritici a partire da matrici o materie prime naturali. Ha diretto programmi di ricerca su materiali innovativi in ambito aeronautico e biomedicale.
Prima del suo coinvolgimento accademico, il professor Libero Sesti Osséo è stato senior process engineer presso la Kinetics Technology International (KTI) a Zoetermeer (NL), con incarichi di leader process engineer per la progettazione di impianti di etilene, idrogeno e Oxo e ha collaborato allo sviluppo di un innovativo reattore EDF (per ottenere Teflon), nonché alla progettazione di una Caldaia Pilota a Letto Fluido Circolante alimentata da Combustibile Derivato da Rifiuti. Il Professor Libero Sesti Osséo ha iniziato la sua carriera professionale nella filiale italiana di KTI a Roma, occupandosi di progettazione di forni di raffineria, incenerimento rifiuti industriali e trattamento fumi, steam reformer e steam cracker.
