THIS OPTIONAL TEACHING IS PARTICULARLY COUNSELLED FOR FUTURE TEACHERS OF PHILOSOPHICAL MATTERS IN THE HIGHER SCHOOL. THESE STUDENTS ARE INTRODUCED TO THE CONTEMPORARY DIDACTICS OF PHILOSOPHY BUT ALSO TO THOSE FORMS OF "PHILOSOPHICAL MAIEUTICS" WHICH GIVE THE INSTRUMENTS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF CRITICAL AND CREATIVE ABILITIES WITHOUT A PARTICULAR INTRODUCTION TO CLASSICAL PHILOSOPHICAL TOPICS. |
Prerequisites | |
---|---|
THIS IS AN ADVANCED CYCLE OF LECTURES, FOR STUDENTS WHO ALREADY HAVE A KNOWLEDGE ABOUT PHILOSOPHY AND ITS HISTORY. |
Contents | |
---|---|
THE CENTRAL ISSUE OF THIS CYCLE OF LECTURES CONCERNS THE WAYS THROUGH WHICH TEACHERS CAN IMPROVE THE CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS OF THEIR STUDENTS, FOCUSING MAINLY THE TECHNIQUES OF RATIONAL ARGOMENTATION, RULED DISCUSSION, COMMENT OF TEXTS. THE GOAL IS THAT OF INTRODUCING LISTENERS TO THOSE COMPONENTS OF THE TEACHING OF PHILOSOPHY WHICH CAN SUSTAIN A "CRITICAL-PROBLEMATICAL" APPROACH TO THIS TEACHING. LECTURES START WITH AN ANALYSIS OF THE MOST CURRENT THEORIES CONCERNENTS THE PHILOSOPHICAL TRAINING AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF CRITICAL THINKING, FOCUSING PROGRESSIVELY THE DOMAINS OF ARGUMENTATION, RULED DISCUSSION, COMMON CONSENT ON FALLACIES, CRITICAL READING. STUDENTS WILL CHARGED OF EASY BUT VERY ENLIGHTENING TASKS WHICH EXECUTION WILL BE A SUBSTANTIAL PART OF THE FINAL PROOF. |
Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
(A) LECTURES WITH THE SUPPORT OF SLIDES AND AUDIO-VISUAL MEDIA. (B) PRACTICAL EXERCITATIONS STARTING WITH A CLEAR EXPOSITION OF THEIR TASKS AND METHODS, INCLUDING PHILOSOPHICAL DIALOGUE, (C) GROUP WORK FOR THE CREATION OF GOOD DIDACTICAL SITUATIONS, FOR INSTANCE FOR THE COMMON READING OF PHILOSOPHICAL CLASSICAL TEXTS. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
FINAL ORAL PROOF WILL FINISH A TRAINING PATH WHICH FUNDAMENTAL MOMENTS WILL INCLUDE WRITTEN EXERCITATIONS OF LOGICAL ARGUMENTATION, CRITICAL DISCUSSION, CRITICAL READING. THESE EXERCITATIONS WILL BE EXECUTED IN THE CLASSROOM, BUT STUDENTS WHICH ARE UNABLE TO FOLLOW REGULARLY THE CYCLE OF LECTURES, MAY ASK MATERIALS AND ACCOMPLISH THE SAME TASKS AT DISTANCE. ONLY AFTER HAVING SEND TO THE TEACHERS THE ACCOMPLISHED EXERCISES, STUDENTS CAN BE ADMITTED TO THE FINAL ORAL PROOF. FINAL ORAL PROOF IS AIMED TO END THIS TRAINING PATH AND WILL CONSIST IN A DISCUSSION BASED ON QUESTIONS POSED BY THE TEACHER (AT LEAST THREE). THE FINAL EVALUATION IS BASED ON (A) THE COMPLETENESS OF INFORMATION (B) THE PROPERTY OF LANGUAGE; (C) THE ABILITY TO DEVELOP A LOGICAL ARGUMENTATION; (D) THE ABILITY TO FORM AN ORIGINAL JUDGEMENT ON THE DISCUSSED ISSUES. |
