Antonio FORTUNATO Curriculum
Antonio Fortunato holds a tenure-track Assistant Professor position (RTDB ex Art. 24 c.3-b Law 240/10) in Mechanics of Solids and Structures at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Salerno.
He obtained the Full Professor Habilitation (“Abilitazione Scientica Nazionale per Professore di I Fascia”), Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, Habilitation area: Structural Mechanics (“Scienza delle Costruzioni”).
In 1996, prof. A. Fortunato obtained a PhD in Structural Engineering at the University of Naples "Federico II”. He is the author of over fifty scientific papers published in international and national journals, in proceedings of national and international conferences and meetings.
He participated as a member of the research unit to the following Research Projects of National Relevance (PRIN) granted by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research:
- PRIN 2003, “Tecniche di approssimazione numerica per problemi di minimizzazione con energie di interfaccia: applicazioni ai solidi elasto-fragili e elastici non reagenti a trazione”, from 01-01-2003 to 31-12-2004;
- PRIN 2004, “Sperimentazione di un sistema integrato INS/GPS e di tecniche Laser Scanning per il rilievo e il monitoraggio di monumenti e aree a rischio”, from 01-01-2004 to 31-12-2005;
- PRIN 2005, “Modellazione e tecniche di approssimazione in problemi avanzati di meccanica dei materiali e delle strutture”, from 01-01-2005 to 31-12-2006;
- PRIN 2008, “Materiali complessi e modelli strutturali in problemi avanzati dell'ingegneria”, from 01-01-2008 to 31-12-2009.
His research activities mainly deal with non-reactive tensile materials and masonry strucutures; the numerical approximation of problems with free discontinuities (variational fracture, folding); the dynamics of free oscillations of nanobeams; the biomechanics of running. He has carried out and carries out supervisory activities for various degree and PhD theses, and scientific review activities for international journals. He has also carried out teaching assignments at the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).
