Rita Patrizia AQUINO Curriculum
Rita Patrizia Aquino has got her Pharm.Sci. degree in Pharmacy at the School of Pharmacy, University of Naples “Federico II” in 1981. Since then she has worked as Assistant Professor at the above School of Pharmacy, being involved in research projects on phytotherapic remedies and pharmaceutical technology. She became Associate Professor of in 1998 and, then, Full Professor in Pharmaceutical Technology in 2002 at the School of Pharmacy of the University of Salerno, where she is presently active, both in undergraduate and graduate education. She was visiting Professor (CNR/Hungarian Academy of Sciences) at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Technical University of Budapest, Ungheria in 1990; in 1998 Visiting Professor at the Stony Brook University, New York, USA; in 2001 and 2006 at the Laboratoire de Chimie des Plantes et de Synthése Organique et Biorganique, Faculte des Sciences, Université Mohammed V, Rabat, Marocco. From 1998 she has been responsible for the Erasmus/Socrates exchange programs, both for students and teaching staff mobility and from 2008 of the Job Placement project. Presently (2008-2010) she acts as Director of the Italian Consortium TEFARCO Innova, a consortium of 13 Italian Universities located at the University of Parma and devoted to the development of technological research, and she was a member of the Scientific Board of the Consortium from 2005.
She has been coordinator of the Master in Cosmetic Science and Technology, started in the academic year 1998, and coordinator of the COSMAST project financied by EU/Italian programme “PON-Ricerca Scientifica, Sviluppo Tecnologico, Alta Formazione" 2000-2006. From 1998 to she is member of the PhD School in Pharmaceutical Sciences and from 2009 of the PhD School in Sciences and Technologies for Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Food Industries at the University of Salerno. In the years 2003-2006 she has served as coordinator of the Degree in Pharmacy and in 2006-09 of the Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the School of Pharmacy of the University of Salerno.
The Scientific expertise of Rita P. Aquino is in the field of - phytomedicine analysis and technology, - dosage forms technology and biopharmaceutical implications including development and control of innovative dosage form for the drug controlled release, - cosmetic technology and natural products in cosmetics. Current research projects are in the field of the design and evaluation of micro-systems for gastric and pulmonary delivery of drugs.
Rita Aquino has published about 120 research papers/reviews on scientific journals, 2 books, 2 book chapters. She is co-inventor of 2 patents in the field of Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic technology. She has presented about 100 communications at national and international congress and 20 invited lectures.
Since 1996 she is coordinator of research projects of the University of Salerno, she has been local coordinator responsible for PRIN projects 2001 and 2004 and for projects supported by Regional programmes, and served as referee of various Journals
She has supervised the research work of about 20 young people including PhD students, post docs and grant holders. Some of these people were visiting scientists moving within the frame of the student exchange programmes of the European Union or within the frame of the cooperation programmes between the European Union and the South America countries.
In 2007-08 Rita P. Aquino has been elected Italian Faculty Advisor of AiTUN ((AAPS - American Association of Pharmceutical Scientists - Italian University Network Student Chapter).
She is expert for AIFA, the Italian Agency for drugs, and member of a Bioethical Committee for drug clinical evaluation and Comiteees for the selection of medicinal products at Italian Hospitals.
