Angelo MARCELLI Curriculum

Angelo Marcelli is Professor of Computer Engineering at the School of Engineering, Head of Natural Computation Laboratory of the Department of Information and Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. Currently is the Dean of the School of Engineering.

Angelo Marcelli received the M.Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering (with honor) and the Ph.D. in Electronic and Computer Engineering both from the University of Napoli "Federico II", Italy, in 1983 and 1987, respectively. From 1987 to 1989, he was chief researcher of the Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence Lab at CRIAI, Napoli, Italy, where he also founded and directed the Italy-Russian Laboratory for Image Analysis and Processing. From 1989 to 1997, he has been Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering at the Department of Computer and Systems Engineering at University of Napoli "Federico II". During the years, he has been Visiting Scholar of many institutions in the former Soviet Unione and in the USA where he lectured and conducted research activity.

Angelo Marcelli has published more than 150 papers in international journals, book and conference proceedings, is Co-Editor of the Journal of Forensic Document Examination, Area Editor of the International Journal of Document Analysis and Recognition, Associate Editor of Pattern Recognition Letters, member of the program committee of the most important international conferences on image analysis, pattern recognition, handwriting analysis and recognition. He is a member of the IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Italian Pattern Recognition Group. From 2007 to 2011 he has been the President of the International Graphonomics Society.
