ACQUISITION OF BASIC KNOWLEDGE RELATING TO THE MAIN BIOCHEMICAL PROCESSES, UNDERSTANDING THE MOLECULAR STRUCTURE AND ORGANIZATION OF THE MAIN BIOMOLECULES, KNOWING THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF BIOENERGETICS AND THE GENERAL MEANING OF METABOLISM. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE TO ADDRESS THE STUDY AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE CHEMICAL NATURE AND THE STRUCTURE OF THE CONSTITUENTS OF LIVING MATTER, OF THE TRANSFORMATIONS OF BIOMOLECULES, AND BASIC KNOWLEDGE ON THE FUNCTIONING OF ENZYMES AND BIOENERGETICS. KNOWING HOW TO USE THE CONCEPTS LEARNED TO UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET IN A LOGICAL WAY THE CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE MAIN BIOLOGICAL MACROMOLECULES; USE THE KNOWLEDGE LEARNED TO SOLVE THEORETICAL PROBLEMS IN A LOGICAL AND DEDUCTIVE WAY. RECOGNIZING ANY ERRORS THROUGH A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE METHOD APPLIED AND KNOWING HOW TO FORMULATE AND ARGUE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESESNDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL HAVE ACQUIRED CRITICAL SKILLS THAT ALLOW HIM TO CONTEXTUALIZE BIOCHEMICAL KNOWLEDGE AND APPLY IT IN EXPERIMENTAL LABORATORY PRACTICE. COMMUNICATION SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED THROUGH COMMUNICATION, USING APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC TERMINOLOGY, CLEARLY DEMONSTRATING FULL UNDERSTANDING AND MASTERY OF THE TOPICS COVERED. LEARNING ABILITY THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO ACQUIRE A LEARNING METHOD THAT WILL ALLOW HIM TO PROCEED WITH HIS STUDIES INDEPENDENTLY AND CRITICALLY |

Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
TEACHING METHODS THE BIOCHEMISTRY COURSE INCLUDES 6 CREDITS (48 HOURS) AND WILL BE STRUCTURED THROUGH FRONTAL THEORETICAL LESSONS IN WHICH THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE ARE PRESENTED AND DISCUSSED, AND INTERACTIVE TEACHING. AS PER THE TEACHING REGULATIONS, ATTENDANCE AT THE GENERAL BIOCHEMISTRY COURSE MUST BE CONSIDERED COMPULSORY, THE PROCEDURES FOR VERIFYING ATTENDANCE WILL BE COMMUNICATED TO THE STUDENTS BY THE TEACHER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE COURSE. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
VERIFICATION OF LEARNING ONGOING SELF-EVALUATION TESTS DURING THE COURSE USING BOTH MULTIPLE CHOICE AND OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS, LASTING 45 MINUTES, AIMED AT EVALUATING UNDERSTANDING AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS COVERED. THE FINAL TEST INCLUDES AN IN-DEPTH ORAL INTERVIEW LASTING A MINIMUM OF 30 MINUTES, AIMED AT EVALUATING THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO COORDINATE AND CONTEXTUALIZE THE INFORMATION ACQUIRED, AS WELL AS VERIFYING THEIR ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND EXPRESS THEMSELVES USING APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY. THE FINAL GRADE, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS, FROM 18/30 TO 30/30 CUM LAUDE, CONSIDERS THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED REGARDING THE STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAIN CLASSES OF BIOMOLECULES, AND KNOWLEDGE REGARDING CELLULAR METABOLISM AND ITS REGULATION. FOR THE PURPOSES OF AWARDING HONORS, THE USE OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE AND THE INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT DEMONSTRATED WILL BE CONSIDERED. |
