Objectives
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED:
ACQUIRE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE STRUCTURE, PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING PROCESSES, TECHNOLOGICAL AND USE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DIFFERENT CLASSES OF MATERIALS USED IN THE FIELD OF CONSTRUCTION AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING CAPACITY:
LEARN HOW TO RELATE A MATERIAL'S PROPERTIES AND BEHAVIOR TO ITS MICROSCOPIC STRUCTURE. KNOW THE PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING PROCESSES OF THE DIFFERENT CLASSES OF MATERIALS USED INDUSTRIALLY.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING CAPACITY:
KNOW THE MAIN PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS AND TESTS TO TECHNICALLY EVALUATE THEIR CHARACTERISTICS, IN ORDER TO KNOW HOW TO COMPARE THEM DURING QUALITY CONTROL / PURCHASE. BE AWARE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF SELECTING MATERIALS SO THAT THEY ADEQUATELY RESPOND TO THE PROJECT REQUIREMENTS.

JUDGMENT AUTONOMY:
BEING ABLE, AT LEAST PRELIMINARILY, TO CHOOSE THE MOST SUITABLE MATERIAL FOR A SPECIFIC APPLICATION.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
KNOWING HOW TO PRESENT KNOWLEDGE RELATED TO THE TOPICS ORALLY.

ABILITY TO LEARN:
KNOWING HOW TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND KNOWING HOW TO UPDATE IT INDEPENDENTLY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROPERTIES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MATERIALS THAT MAY BE INTRODUCED TO REPLACE PART OF THOSE CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET.
Prerequisites
FUNDAMENTALS OF MATHEMATICS, CHEMISTRY AND PHYSICS WHICH CAN BE ACQUIRED AT HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL

Verification of learning
THE EVALUATION WILL BE PERFORMED AT THE END OF THE COURSE BY AN ORAL EXAM, INTENDED TO ASSESS THE DEGREE OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE TERMINOLOGY USED IN THE MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY, THE METHODS OF BUILDING MATERIALS USE, THE ABILITY TO APPROPRIATELY MOTIVATE THE DESIGN CHOICES IN TERMS OF MATERIALS AND DURABILITY, THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO DIFFERENT CONTEXTS AND OTHER MATERIALS, THE ABILITY OF EXPOSURE.
THE MARK, EXPRESSED IN A SCALE FROM 18 TO 30 WITH POSSIBLE LAUDE, WILL DEPEND ON THE ACQUIRED MATURITY ON THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE. FOR THE LAUDE, IT WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT THE QUALITY OF THE EXPOSITION, IN TERMS OF THE USE OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE, AND OF THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT BEING DEMONSTRATED.
