Objectives
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: ELEMENTS OF THE ENVIRONMENT, SUSTAINABILITY, POLLUTION, ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS. ELEMENTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION: MANDATORY AND VOLUNTARY INSTRUMENTS. ELEMENTS OF MULTICRITERIA ANALYSIS CONTAINING SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC VARIABLES. PRINCIPLES AND APPLICATION OF LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT (LCA) TO INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS ASSESSMENT USING THE PRINCIPAL METHODS. LCA REFERENCE STANDARDS.
APPLIED KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: ABILITY TO ANALYZE AND SOLVE PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE INTERACTION OF THE INDUSTRIAL SYSTEM WITH THE ENVIRONMENT, WITH AN APPROACH THAT TAKES INTO ACCOUNT SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC VARIABLES, WHICH DEFINE THE CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. ABILITY TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED, DEEPLY DESCRIBE IT, EXAMINE THE ALTERNATIVES FOR SOLUTIONS, SELECT THE "BEST CHOICE" THROUGH THE USE OF MULTI-CRITERIA ANALYSIS (MCA) TECHNIQUES. ABILITY TO ANALYZE THE RESULTS OF A LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT OF AN INDUSTRIAL SYSTEM BY MEANS OF MCA METHODS. ABILITY TO DEVELOP AN EVALUATION OF THE LIFE CYCLE OF AN INDUSTRIAL SYSTEM ALSO USING SPECIFIC SOFTWARE, AND RESPECTING THE REFERENCE STANDARDS. ABILITY TO RAISE THE NECESSARY DATA FOR THE LCA. ABILITY TO MAKE JUDGMENTS ON THE OUTCOME OF IMPACT ASSESSMENTS THAT INCLUDE CONSIDERATION ABOUT SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS. KNOWING HOW TO WORK IN GROUPS AND PRESENT A TOPIC RELATED TO THE INDUSTRIAL ECOLOGY. KNOWING HOW TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN ENVIRONMENTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE, AND ABILITY TO DEEPEN THE TOPICS COVERED USING MATERIALS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PROPOSED.

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF THEORETICAL LECTURES AND PRACTICAL CLASSES (EXERCISES). THE LECTURES WILL NOT HAVE A FIXED DURATION, BUT THEY WILL OCCPUPY THE TIME NECESSARY (ACCORDING TO THE PROGRAM AND THE TIME AVAILABLE) FOR MAXIMUM UNDERSTANDING AND PARTICIPATION OF THE LEARNERS. THE PRACTICAL EXERCISES WILL STIMULATE THE INVOLVEMENT OF LEARNERS AS INDIVIDUALS AND IN GROUPS. LESSONS INCLUDE THE USE OF VIDEO PROJECTOR, WHILE THE EXERCISES INVOLVING THE USE OF LAPTOPS.
