Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE HISTORICAL AND CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY TO ANALYZE PROBLEMS AND PERSPECTIVES RELATED TO THE CONTEMPORARY MUSEUM AND EXHIBITIONARY COMPLEX, HIGHLIGHTING THE RECENT TRANSFORMATION DUE TO DIFFERENT THEORETICAL APPROACHES IN THE INTERNATIONAL DEBATE.
IN THIS COURSE STUDENT WILL DISCUSS ABOUT DIFFERENT AND RELEVANT MUSEOLOGICAL REALITIES, WHERE TRANSVERSAL APPROACHES ARE GIVEN BY SEVERAL PROFESSIONAL FIGURES INVOLVED IN CONTEMPORARY MUSEUM OPERATION. THE STUDENT WILL REACH THE ABILITY TO WORK IN THE DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES RELATED TO PROMOTION, DEVELOPMENT, HERITAGE, DIDACTIC, PRIVATE AND PUBLIC EXHIBITION’S SPACES.
THE COURSE AIMS TO ENCOURAGE STUDENT TO DEVELOP APPROPRIATE ASSESSMENT TOOLS CONNECTED WITH SOCIAL AND ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO MUSEUM ACTIVITIES AND, IN WIDER TERMS, TO THE DIFFERENT EXPRESSION OF EXHIBITION SYSTEM.
THANKS TO SEMINARS, THE COURSE AIMS TO DEVELOP EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN STUDENT IMPROVING HIS OWN LINGUISTIC COMPETENCY.
STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE TOOLS AND ABILITY FOR BECOMING AUTONOMOUS AS LEARNER IN MUSEOLOGICAL FIELD.

ARTISTS' ATELIERS HAVE FOR SOME YEARS NOW BEEN AT THE CENTRE NOT ONLY OF HISTORICAL-CRITICAL DEBATE BUT ALSO OF MUSEOLOGICAL REFLECTION, AN INCREASINGLY COMMON OBJECT OF EXHIBITION AND ACQUISITION BY MUSEUMS, THE ATELIER REPRESENTS AN EXTREMELY DENSIVE CULTURAL SPACE, IT IS A TEXT TO BE READ, INTERPRETED AND SHOWED BY ADOPTING COHERENT AND SINGULAR EXHIBITIONAL SOLUTIONS. THROUGH THE DEFINITION OF THE THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE AND THE STUDYING OF SOME EXAMPLE CASES THAT WILL COVER A WIDE CHRONOLOGY (FROM THE MIDDLE AGES TO THE 21ST CENTURY), THE COURSE INTENDS TO ANALYSE THE PRESENCE OF ATELIERS IN THE CONTEMPORARY EXHIBITION SYSTEM WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO SOME SIGNIFICANT ITALIAN EXPERIENCES.

Teaching Methods
FRONTAL LESSONS, VISIT TO EXHIBITIONS AND MUSEUMS, SEMINARS AND TALK WITH ARTISTS. THE STUDENT WILL BE INVOLVED IN RESEARCH GROUPS ON SINGULAR TOPICS.
Verification of learning
ORAL EXAMINATION CRITERIA: THE EVALUATION WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE DEEPENED KNOWLEDGE OF THE BOOKS INDICATED BELOW, AS WELL AS THE ABILITY FOR AUTONOMOUS THOUGHT AND CRITICAL MATURITY IN EXPOUNDING ARGUMENTS.
