M. Polito took the degree in Classics at the University of Salerno in 1995 (dissertation in Greek History About the Athenian phrathry, supervisors proff. Clara Talamo and Anna Maria Biraschi), the PhD in Classical Philology in 2001 (dissertation About the Heraclidean writings About the Constitutions, tutor prof. Clara Talamo).

Tenured secondary school teacher (Greek, Latin and Italian Language and Literature) after an open competitive examination in 2000. Assistant Professor of Greek History at the University of Salerno, since October 2001, through a recruitment and selection process. Assistant Professor of Greek History (01.11.2001 - 28.02.2015) at the University of Salerno. Lecturer of Ancient History (SICSI 2002/3-2007/8), Greek Antiquities (2004/5- 2009/10), History of Greek Historiography (2008/9), Greek History (since 2009/10). National Scientific Habilitation as Associate Professor (Greek History) in 2014. Associate Professor since 01.03.2015.

Member of the "PhD teaching staff" in Classical Philology since 2002/3,  in "Researches and Studies about the Antiquity, the Middle Ages , the Humanism of the University of Salerno" since 2013/14.
