Pasquale PISTONE Curriculum
Born in Naples on 18th November 1968 and in 1990 graduated with honours in Law at the Federico II University of Naples with a thesis on European Law relating to the application of arbitration in tax law. Trainee at the European Commission in 1991. Specialised in Administrative Law in 1994. Registered with the Bar of Naples since 1994. Lecturer at the University of Hamburg for the academic year 1994/1995. Research associate of the International Fiscal Association at the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation of Amsterdam in 1998. Visiting lecturer at the Universiteit van Tilburg in 1999.
Ph. D.in International and Comparative Tax Law at the University of Genoa with a thesis that was awarded a merit by the International Fiscal Association in 2000.
Winner of the 2005 EURYI of the European Science Foundation for a research project on "The impact of European law on the relations with third countries in the field of direct taxes" at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Vienna. In 2010, he received Award of the International Association of Financial Law (Russia) for the book co-edited with Addy Mazz, Reflexiones en torno a un modelo latinoamericano de convenio de doble imposición. In 2011, he received Award for the Innovative Forschung - Wirtschaftsuniversität Vienna, Austria.
Associate Professor of Tax Law at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Salerno.
Since 2010, holder of an Ad Personam EU Jean Monnet Chair on European Tax Law and Policy at the WU Vienna.
Since 2008 to 2011, Director of the LL.M. in European and International Tax Law at the University of Salerno (STEI – Scuola Tributaria Europea Internazionale).
Since 2013, Academic Chairman of the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation, Amsterdam (The Netherlands).
Since 2019, President of the Italian Association for Latin American Tax Law and Member of the Latin American Institute of Tax Law (ILADT). Honorary Professor of the University of Ural State Law University (Russia) and of University of Cape Town (South Africa).
Doctor Honoris Causa at the University of Örebro (Sweden).
Since 1991, has held lectures and seminars at the most important Italian universities, as well as in Europe, Latin America and world (like University of Melbourne, University of Florida and Harward University).
Member of the Editorial Board of Diritto e pratica tributaria internazionale and World Tax Juornal. Member of the Scientific Committee and/or editorial board of Revista de dereito tributario atual, Revista de Fiscalidad Internacional y Negocios Internacionales, Revista de Finanças Públicas e Direito Fiscal, Revue de fiscalité internazionale, Revista de Direito Tributário e Financeiro, Cronica Juridica Hispalense, Yearbook of International Tax Law, Monitural FIscalitate Internationali.
(Co-)editor of 60 and (co-)author of 7 books, as well as of more than two hundred and twenty one articles and chapters in Italian, English, French, Polish, Russia, Turkish, Chinese, German and Spanish, published in specialized tax journals, dealing primarily with International and European Tax Law, Federal Taxation and Income Taxation.
Writes and speaks seven European languages fluently.
