Objectives
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND COMPETENCES TO BE ACQUIRED
TO LEARN NOTIONS AND TO DEEPEN SPECIFIC PROBLEMS PERTAINING TO HYDRAULIC CONSTRUCTIONS PREDOMINANTLY PRESENT IN URBAN AREAS WITH A VIEW TO SUSTAINABILITY. TO ACQUIRE CONCEPTUAL AND PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE RELATED TO THE DESIGN, REALISATION, HYDRAULIC VERIFICATION, PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS, FUNCTIONAL DIAGNOSIS, REHABILITATION AND MANAGEMENT OF WATER SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS AND URBAN DRAINAGE SYSTEMS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SUSTAINABILITY.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
KNOWLEDGE OF THE REGULATORY FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROBLEMS OF DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT OF HYDRAULIC INFRASTRUCTURES IN URBAN AND NON-URBAN CONTEXTS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SUSTAINABILITY.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
TO BE ABLE, WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE REGULATIONS IN FORCE, THE COMPETENCES AND THE NOTIONS IMPARTED, TO PREPARE A PROJECT WORK FOR EACH OF THE HYDRAULIC INFRASTRUCTURES ILLUSTRATED DURING THE COURSE.

AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT.
TO BE ABLE TO RECOGNISE THE METHODS TO BE ADOPTED FOR THE RESOLUTION OF SPECIFIC PROBLEMS IN THE FIELD OF HYDRAULIC INFRASTRUCTURES IN URBAN AND NON-URBAN CONTEXTS.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
TO BE ABLE TO WORK IN A GROUP AND TO BE ABLE TO ARGUE IN A TECHNICAL MANNER ABOUT THE NOTIONS IMPARTED DURING THE COURSE.

LEARNING SKILLS
TO BE ABLE TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO CASES OF DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT OF HYDRAULIC INFRASTRUCTURES IN URBAN AND NON-URBAN AREAS.
Prerequisites
IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE CONTENT OF THE CECTURES AND TO ACHIEVE THE EXPECTED LEARNING OBJECTIVES ARE REQUIRED (PREREQUISITES) KNOWLEDGE OF HYDRAULIC COURSES AND HYDRAULIC CONSTRUCTIONS. THERE IS NO PROPEDEUTICITY FOR THE TEACHING IN QUESTION.
Contents
THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE ARE ORGANIZED IN A MANNER TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH THE KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY FOR THE DESIGN AND RENOVATION OF URBAN DRAINAGE WORKS, ALSO FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SUSTAINABILITY:
GENERAL INFORMATION ON URBAN DRAINAGE NETWORKS, STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF RAINFALL EVENTS, METHODS OF ASSESSING MAXIMUM RAINFLOW FLOWS, UNITY INSTANTANEOUS HYDROGRAM, FLOOD EVENTS IN SEWERAGE, PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION OF FREE-FLOOR CHANNELS, PROPORTIONATION METHODS OF FREE-FLOOR CHANNELS, PRO THREADS PERMANENTLY MOVING CURRENT FOR FREE-FLOOR CHANNELS, MATERIALS FOR HYDRAULIC CONSTRUCTIONS, TECHNIQUES FOR INSTALLATION AND REHABILITATION OF WATER NETWORKS, PROPORTIONING OF ROLLING TANKS, PROPORTIONING METHODS FOR ROLLING TANKS, FIRST RAIN WATER, RECURRING PRODUCTS FOR THE URBAN DRAINAGE NETWORK, SPECIAL PRODUCTS FOR THE URBAN DRAINAGE NETWORK, WASTE MANAGEMENT, SUSTAINABLE URBAN DRAINAGE.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES LECTURES, TUTORIALS, AND DRAFTING OF TECHNICAL PROJECT DOCUMENTS, WRITTEN BY SMALL WORKING GROUPS IN COLLABORATION WITH THE ACADEMIC STAFF. THE LECTURES COVER 4 CFU WHILE THE PRATICE EXCERCISE COVER 2 CFU. SOME CASE STUDIES WILL BE PRESENTED DURING PLANNED TECHNICAL VISITS.
Verification of learning
THE ASSESSMENT OF THE LEARNING OUTCOMES, WHICH TAKE PLACE DURING THE FINAL ORAL EXAM, WILL BE CONDUCTED WITH REFERENCE TO A SET OF ELEMENTS, SUCH AS THE PROPERTIES OF LANGUAGE, THE CAPABILITY TO SOLVE MAIN KNOWN TECHNICAL ISSUES, THE CAPABILITY TO SYNTHESIZE BASIC NOTIONS TO SOLVE MAIN UNKNOWN TECHNICAL
ISSUES, LEVEL OF DETAIL OF THE DRAFTED TECHNICAL PROJECT DOCUMENTS.
