THE AIM OF THE COURSE OF THERMODYNAMICS AND HEAT TRANSFER IS TO PROVIDE FOR THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN CONCEPTS OF THERMODYNAMICS AND HEAT TRANSFER. THE COURSE, LOCATED ON THE SECOND YEAR WITHIN THE FIRST CYCLE DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, IS OF 12 CREDITS AND IS DIVIDED ON TWO SEMESTERS. IN THE FIRST HALF THE STUDY OF APPLIED THERMODYNAMICS IS FACED, IN THE SECOND HALF THE STUDY OF HEAT TRANSFER. NUMERICAL EXERCISES SUITABLY SELECTED ARE ASSIGNED TO STUDENTS WITH THE PURPOSE OF DEEPENING THE CONCEPTS CONCERNING THERMODYNAMICS AND HEAT TRANSFER. AT THE END OF THE FIRST SEMESTER, THE STUDENT HAS THE POSSIBILITY OF TAKING THE EXAM OF THE APPLIED THERMODYNAMICS PART IMMEDIATELY. THE SECOND EXERCISE IS ABOUT THE RESOLUTION OF A COMBINED HEAT TRANSFER MECHANISM. IN PARTICULAR, IN THE WRITTEN TEST, THE FOLLOWING CALCULATIONS CAN BE REQUESTED: THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES, MECHANICAL AND THERMAL POWER, THERMODYNAMIC EFFICIENCY, INTERNAL, EXTERNAL AND GLOBAL ENTROPIC PRODUCTION. FURTHERMORE, THE GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION OF PHYSICAL PHENOMENA IS REQUIRED WHEN NECESSARY. THE WRITTEN HEAT TRANSFER TEST INCLUDES ONE OR TWO EXERCISES TO BE CARRIED OUT IN 2 HOURS. THE EXERCISES CONCERN COMBINED HEAT EXCHANGE PROBLEMS. FOR THE SOLUTION OF THE EXERCISES IT IS NECESSARY TO USE COMPLEMENTARY DIDACTIC MATERIAL (FORMULAS, DIAGRAMS, TABLES) AVAILABLE ON TEXT OR WEBSITE OF PROF. CUCCURULLO.
