Research

The scientific production has embraced a broad spectrum of research topics always aimed at the characterization, modeling, planning, and operation of power systems and distributed systems. The main tasks are:

  • the impact of Distributed Generation (DG) on power distribution networks, protection systems, and voltage control, with emphasis on renewable energy plants;
  • planning and control of microgrids;
  • demand-side management;
  • impact of electric vehicles and storage systems on power systems.

Main research collaboration with:

  • prof. J.V. Milanovic - Electrical Energy and Power Systems Research Group of the University of Manchester
  • prof. G. Gross - Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, Urbana
  • prof. C.N. Hadjacostis - Electrical and Computer Engineering (University of Cyprus) and Coordinated Science Laboratory and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, Urbana)
  • prof. P. Mancarella and prof. N. Ochoa - Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Melbourne
  • prof. R. Palma-Behnke - Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Chile.
