Objectives
STUDENTS COMPLETING THIS COURSE IS EXPECTED TO HAVE:
KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN BIOCHEMICAL MECHANISMS OF THE NUTRITIONAL PROCESS: DIGESTION OF FOOD PRINCIPLES, NUTRIENTS ADSORPTION AND THEIR UTILIZATION WITHIN METABOLISM;
EVALUATION ABILITY OF BIOCHEMICAL ASPECTS OF FOOD INTAKE AND METABOLIC PATHWAYS INVOLVED IN NUTRIENTS UTILIZATION;
KNOWLEDGE OF MAIN ISSUES ABOUT PATHOLOGICAL SHORTAGE OF ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS.
Prerequisites
TO OBTAIN A GOOD COMPREHENSION AND ACQUISITION OF THE ARGUMENTS COVERED IN THE COURSE, A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF MAIN ARGUMENTS OF GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY, MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS, BIOLOGY, ORGANIC CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY IS REQUIRED.
