Objectives
THE COURSE IS AIMED AT PROVIDING FUNDAMENTAL NOTIONS FOR THE FORMULATION OF NUTRITIONAL PLANS AIMED AT THE OPTIMAL PREVENTION OF PATHOLOGIES RELATED TO NUTRITIONAL STATUS.

AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL KNOW THE CONCEPT OF ADEQUATE NUTRITION IN THE HEALTHY ADULT INDIVIDUAL, IN SUBJECTS OF DIFFERENT AGES, SEXES AND PHYSIOLOGICAL STATES, ALSO IN RELATION TO PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, AND THE CONCEPTS OF DISEASE EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PREVENTION REFERRED TO NUTRITION.

BY APPLYING THE ACQUIRED SKILLS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NUTRITION AND THE ONSET OF PATHOLOGIES, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO EVALUATE NUTRITIONAL PREVENTION ACTIVITIES.
Prerequisites
TO OBTAIN A GOOD COMPREHENSION AND ACQUISITION OF THE ARGUMENTS COVERED IN THE COURSE, A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF MAIN ARGUMENTS OF GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY, GENERAL BIOLOGY, ORGANIC CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY IS REQUIRED.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PREVENTION. NUTRITIONAL PREVENTION. NUTRITION AND HEALTH. OBESITY AND NUTRITION. NEOPLASTIC DISEASES AND NUTRITION. CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES AND NUTRITION. SUPPLEMENTS. FOODS DERIVED FROM TRANSGENIC ORGANISMS (8H).
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES THEORETICAL LESSONS AND EXERCISES IN THE CLASSROOM (24 HOURS). IN THE THEORETICAL LESSONS THE TOPICS RELATED TO THE EXPECTED CONTENTS WILL BE ILLUSTRATED. IN THE EXERCISES WILL BE PROPOSED PROBLEMS WHOSE DISCUSSION REQUIRES THE KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL USE OF COURSE CONTENT. ATTENDANCE IS COMPULSORY ACCORDING TO THE CURRENT REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE TYPE OF DEGREE COURSE AND IS ELECTRONICALLY VERIFIED. LESSONS WILL BE CARRIED OUT USING GRAPHIC PRESENTATIONS WHOSE FILES WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS AFTER EACH LESSON ON THE GROUP OF THE IT PLATFORM TO WHICH THEY WILL BE INCLUDED. THEIR CONTENT DOES NOT REPLACE REFERENCE BOOKS, AS THEY CAN ONLY BE A REFERENCE GUIDE TO SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING AND ATTENDANCE AT LESSONS.
Verification of learning
DURING THE COURSE PARTICIPATING STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO UNDERGO INTERMEDIATE LEARNING TESTS, CONSISTING OF SELF-ASSESSMENT TESTS AND ORAL DISCUSSIONS IN THE CLASSROOM. THE EXAM INCLUDES AN ORAL INTERVIEW, LASTING NO MORE THAN 45 MIN, IN WHICH IT COULD ALSO BE REQUESTED TO ANSWER IN WRITING. THE FINAL EVALUATION WILL DEPEND ON AN OVERALL ASSESSMENT THAT WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE ORAL INTERVIEW, IN RELATION TO THE MATURITY SHOWN ON THE COURSE CONTENTS IN TERMS OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS AND THE ABILITY TO CRITICALLY USE ACQUIRED NOTIONS.
