THE COURSE GIVES THE KNOWLEDGE ON AGRONOMY AND CROP TECHNIQUES APPLIED TO MEDICINAL PLANTS AS WELL AS ON PLANT PATHOGENS AND THEIR MAJOR DISEASES AFFECTING MEDICINAL PLANTS, DIAGNOSTIC METHODS AND CONTROL OF THE MENTIONED DISEASES BY USING ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY MEANS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: FUNDAMENTALS OF AGRONOMY AND CROP TECHNIQUES AS WELL AS OF GENERAL ASPECTS OF PLANT PATHOLOGY AND SPECIFIC DISEASES AFFECTING MEDICINAL PLANTS. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ON AGRONOMY AND CULTIVATION TECHNIQUES TO THE PLANNING OF SUSTAINABLE MEDICINAL CROP SYSTEMS AND IDENTIFYING, PREVENTING AND CONTROLLING DISEASES OF MEDICINAL PLANTS. |
Prerequisites | |
---|---|
FOR SUCCESSFUL ACQUISITION AND APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE MAIN CONTENTS OF THE COURSE IT IS REQUIRED THAT STUDENTS HAVE PASSED THE PROPEDEUTIC EXAM OF PLANT BIOLOGY AND BOTANY. |

Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF TWO MODULES, HAS A TOTAL DURATION OF 80 HOURS (10 CFU) AND INCLUDES CLASSROOM LECTURE, LABORATORY EXERCISE, AND FIELD TRIP ACTIVITIES. 40 HOURS (5 CFU) ARE COVERED BY MODULE A (= MEDICINAL PLANTS) AND 40 HOURS (5 CFU) BY MODULE B (= PLANT PATHOLOGY). IN EACH MODULE, 32 HOURS (4 CFU) ARE DELIVERED AS CLASSROOM LECTURES AND 8 HOURS (1 CFU) AS LABORATORY EXERCISES AND FIELD TRIPS. ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED. STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AT LEAST 70% OF THE LESSONS IN ORDER TO BE SUBJECTED TO FINAL EXAMINATION. INFORMATION ON HOW THEIR PRESENCE IS RECORDED WILL BE PROVIDED AT BEGINNING OF THE COURSE. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
ACHIEVEMENT OF THE COURSE’S OBJECTIVES IS VALIDATED BY A FINAL ORAL EXAMINATION USING A THIRTIETHS-BASED RATING SCALE. THIS EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF QUESTIONS AND CRITICAL DISCUSSION ON THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENTS OF THE COURSE AND IS AIMED AT EVALUATING THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE STUDENT, HIS COMMUNICATION SKILLS USING A PROPER TERMINOLOGY, AS WELL AS HIS ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE ON THE SAME THEORETICAL CONTENTS AUTONOMOUSLY. |
