THE COURSE HAS THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES: 1. TO TRANSFER TOOLS AND METHODS FOR GEOGRAPHICAL ANALYSIS AIMED AT UNDERSTANDING LOCAL CONTEXTS AND ECONOMIC VOCATIONS 2. TO EXPERIMENT WITH BASIC FORMS OF TERRITORIAL ENHANCEMENT. CONOSCENZA E CAPACITÀ DI COMPRENSIONE THE STUDENT WILL BE FAMILIAR WITH: -THE THEMATIC LEVELS OF TERRITORIAL ANALYSIS; -TOOLS FOR GEOGRAPHICAL ANALYSIS, -PRINCIPLES AND METHODS FOR THE ACQUISITION AND PROCESSING OF GEOREFERENCED DATA, -THE ECONOMIC RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN DIFFERENT SCALES, -RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES AND REFERENCE CONTEXTS, -RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ECONOMIC SYSTEMS AT DIFFERENT SCALES. CAPACITÀ DI APPLICARE CONOSCENZA E COMPRENSIONE THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE DISCIPLINE, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: -SELECT WITH AWARENESS THE TERRITORIAL CONTEXTS OF INTEREST ON THE BASIS OF GEOGRAPHICAL KNOWLEDGE; -ACQUIRE DATA AND INFORMATION OF INTEREST FOR THE ANALYSIS OF TERRITORIAL ORGANIZATION; -SYSTEMATIZE, PROCESS AND GRAPHICALLY REPRESENT DATA AND INFORMATION; -EVALUATE CASE STUDIES AND BEST PRACTICES RELATED TO EUROPEAN SPATIAL EXPERIENCES; -CRITICALLY COMPARE GEOGRAPHICAL CONTEXTS ON THE BASIS OF BENCHMARKING; -APPLY SWOT ANALYSIS METHODS AND IMPLEMENT SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT FORMS. AUTONOMIA DI GIUDIZIO THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: -IDENTIFY PRIORITIES AND PREVAILING THEMES WITHIN GENERAL SUBJECT AREAS; -SELECT STATISTICAL AND DOCUMENTARY SOURCES; -ACCESS OPEN SOURCES PLATFORMS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF DATA OF INTEREST; -CRITICALLY PROCESS INFORMATION AND DATA. ABILITÀ COMUNICATIVE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: -ORGANIZE STUDY AND RESEARCH RESULTS IN DOCUMENTARY, GRAPHIC AND ICONOGRAPHIC VERSIONS SUITABLE FOR PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS; -REPORT BRIEFLY ON THE RESULTS OF COLLECTIVE OR INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH AND STUDIES; -BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN GROUP WORK. THE COURSE INCLUDES A FIRST THEORETICAL PART AIMED AT COVERING THE MAIN PARADIGMS OF THE DISCIPLINE AS WELL AS METHODS AND TOOLS FOR ANALYSING THE ORGANISATION OF THE TERRITORY. IN A SECOND PHASE, STUDENTS WILL APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN A COURSE FOCUSED ON THE ACQUISITION, PROCESSING AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA AND TERRITORIAL INFORMATION, INTENDED TO GIVE CONCRETENESS TO THE THEORETICAL PRINCIPLES ANALYSED. FINALLY, CASE STUDIES REALISED THROUGH GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL WORK WILL BE CRITICALLY DISCUSSED IN ORDER TO ARRIVE AT SUMMARY CONSIDERATIONS ON THE ORGANISATION OF TERRITORIES. THE ACTIVITIES ARE CARRIED OUT IN THE MULTIMEDIA LABORATORY, STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ACQUIRE ONLINE DATA AND INFORMATION SOURCES NECESSARY FOR THE EXPERIMENTATION OF GEOGRAPHICAL DATA PROCESSING AS WELL AS THEIR CARTOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION. |

THE LEARNING ASSESSMENT CONSISTS OF AN ORAL TEST AIMED AT A CRITICAL EXAMINATION OF THEORETICAL ARGUMENTS, THE USE OF SPATIAL ANALYSIS TOOLS AND THE REPRESENTATION OF SPATIAL CASES. THE FINAL GRADE, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS WITH POSSIBLE HONOURS, WILL DEPEND ON THE LEVEL OF LEARNING ACHIEVED BY THE STUDENT. IN DETAIL, THE MINIMUM THRESHOLD FOR A POSITIVE ASSESSMENT PRESUPPOSES KNOWLEDGE OF THE FUNDAMENTALS OF THE DISCIPLINE AS WELL AS THE TOOLS OF TERRITORIAL ANALYSIS. MORE POSITIVE ASSESSMENT THRESHOLDS WILL BE RELATED TO THE FURTHER ABILITY TO APPLY THEORETICAL PARADIGMS TO GIVEN SPATIAL CONTEXTS, HIGHLIGHTING A CONSCIOUS USE OF STATISTICAL AND CARTOGRAPHIC TOOLS. HIGHER ASSESSMENT THRESHOLDS WILL BE RELATED TO THE ABILITY TO CRITICALLY INTERPRET THE COMPLEXITIES AND SPATIAL ISSUES EMERGING FROM DATA ANALYSIS. |
