Objectives
LEARNING OBJECTIVES.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND COMPETENCES TO BE ACQUIRED
TO LEARN, THROUGH THE DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF A TECHNICAL NATURE (SOILS, RISKS, CARTOGRAPHY AND GIS, ACTORS, CONSTRAINTS, PROPERTIES, PLANS, ETC.. ), THE STRUCTURE OF URBAN AND TERRITORIAL SYSTEMS AND THE PHENOMENA THAT PRESIDE OVER THE PHYSICAL AND FUNCTIONAL TRANSFORMATIONS THAT TAKE PLACE IN THEM; TO ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO USE THE BUILDING, TOWN PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATORS NECESSARY FOR THE MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL OF URBAN AND TERRITORIAL PHENOMENA; TO ACQUIRE, THROUGH THE STUDY OF TOWN PLANNING MODELS AND TECHNIQUES, THE ABILITY TO READ, DRAFT AND FORM URBAN AND TERRITORIAL PLANNING INSTRUMENTS; TO ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO REALISE AN IMPLEMENTATION TOWN PLAN IN TERMS OF PROPORTIONING CALCULATION, TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND GRAPHIC REPRESENTATION.
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION SKILLS:
TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE TERMINOLOGY USED IN THE FIELD OF CONCEPTUAL, PHYSICAL AND FUNCTIONAL MODELS OF URBAN ANALYSIS AND PLANNING, AS WELL AS THE METHODOLOGIES AND TECHNIQUES OF CALCULATION AND DESIGN IN THIS FIELD.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
TO BE ABLE TO READ URBAN PLANNING INSTRUMENTS AND TO BE ABLE TO ELABORATE TECHNICAL CALCULATIONS FOR THE PROPORTIONING OF A SETTLEMENT AND THE RELATIVE GRAPHIC REPRESENTATION OF ANALYSIS AND DESIGN.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT:
TO BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE METHODS FOR THE ELABORATION OF URBAN PLANNING DESIGN SOLUTIONS ACCORDING TO THE CONTEXT UNDER CONSIDERATION.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
TO BE ABLE TO WORK IN A GROUP AND EXPLAIN ORALLY AND IN WRITING, TEXTUALLY AND GRAPHICALLY, AN ARGUMENT RELATING TO THE TOPICS DEALT WITH.
LEARNING SKILLS:
TO BE ABLE TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED AND TO BE ABLE TO LEARN INDEPENDENTLY DEPENDING ON THE CONTEXTS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF KNOWLEDGE
Prerequisites
BASIC MATHEMATICAL AND REPRESENTATIONAL KNOWLEDGE IS REQUIRED FOR THE SUCCESSFUL ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES.
Contents
THE COURSE INCLUDES THEORETICAL LECTURES AND A DESIGN EXERCISE CONSISTING OF THE DRAFTING OF AN IMPLEMENTATION URBAN PLAN.
THE COURSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
13. REGULATORY SUBJECTS
14. ACTORS ON THE TERRITORY
15. OWNERSHIP OF SOILS
16. URBAN LAND RENT
17. CONSTRAINTS
18. PLANNING SYSTEM
19. LOCAL GENERAL PLANS
20. IMPLEMENTING URBAN PLANS
21. GENERAL TERRITORIAL PLANS
22. SPECIALISED PLANS
23. COMPLEX PLANNING
24. URBAN EQUALISATION
25. STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

THEORETICAL LECTURES FOR 40 CFU
EXERCISE ON THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT PLAN RELATED TO THE PROJECT DRAWINGS FOR 20 CFU.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF THEORETICAL LECTURES (40 CFU) AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES (20 CFU) INVOLVING THE DRAFTING OF AN URBAN DEVELOPMENT PLAN.
THIS PLAN MUST CONTAIN 10 ANALYSIS PAPERS OF THE INTERVENTION AREA AND 6 URBAN PLANNING PROJECT PAPERS, AS WELL AS AN ILLUSTRATIVE TECHNICAL REPORT.
ONE OR TWO SEMINARS WITH EXTERNAL EXPERTS FOR A TOTAL OF 5-6 HOURS ARE PLANNED AS PART OF THE THEORETICAL LECTURES.

ATTENDANCE IS COMPULSORY FOR A MINIMUM OF 70% OF THE TEACHING HOURS.
Verification of learning
THE EXAMINATION IS INDIVIDUAL. THE ASSESSMENT OF THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE PREFIXED OBJECTIVES WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGH A WRITTEN TEST (8 QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED IN 20 MINUTES), THE PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF THE YEAR'S PROJECT (10 MINUTES), A PROPORTIONING EXERCISE (10 MINUTES) AND A FINAL ORAL TALK (20 MINUTES)

TO PASS THE EXAMINATION THE STUDENT MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT HE/SHE UNDERSTANDS AND IS ABLE TO APPLY THE MAIN CONCEPTS EXPLAINED IN THE COURSE WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO URBAN INDICATORS, THE PROPORTIONING OF A SETTLEMENT AND THE PLANNING SYSTEM. THE GRADE, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS, WILL DEPEND ON THE MATURITY ACQUIRED IN THE COURSE CONTENT, ALSO TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE QUALITY OF THE WRITTEN AND ORAL PRESENTATION.
FOR THE PURPOSES OF HONOURS, ACCOUNT WILL BE TAKEN
- THE QUALITY OF THE EXPOSITION, IN TERMS OF THE USE OF APPROPRIATE TECHNICAL LANGUAGE;
- THE ABILITY TO CROSS-REFERENCE THE VARIOUS TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND, WHERE POSSIBLE, WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES;
- THE ABILITY TO WORK IN A GROUP;
- THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT DEMONSTRATED.
Texts
HANDOUTS PREPARED BY THE LECTURER RELATING TO THE COURSE LECTURES.
STUDENTS ARE IN ANY CASE PROVIDED WITH AN EXTENSIVE BIBLIOGRAPHY RELATING TO ALL TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE.
