THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE TEACHING IS TO ENABLE STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL EVENTS OF MODERN HISTORY (FROM THE END OF THE FIFTEENTH CENTURY TO THE BEGINNING OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY) THROUGH A RECONSTRUCTION OF THE PROCESSES WHICH SHAPED AND TRANSFORMED WESTERN CIVILISATION. THE TEACHING WILL ALSO EXAMINE THE BASIC METHODOLOGIES OF HISTORICAL RESEARCH AND THE MAIN HISTORIOGRAPHIC INTERPRETATIONS IN ORDER TO DEVELOP STUDENTS’ ANALYTICAL SKILLS, THEIR STATISTICAL DATA ELABORATION, THEIR HISTORIOGRAPHY ORIENTATION, THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND THEIR ABILITY TO REFLECT CRITICALLY ON HISTORICAL ISSUES. |

Teaching Methods | |

THE TEACHING INCLUDES 42 HOURS OF LECTURES AND SEMINAR (6 CFU), DIVIDED INTO 32 HOURS OF LECTURES AND 10 OF SEMINAR (USING PROJECTIONS OF HISTORICAL EVENTS). DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FREQUENCY OBLIGATION. ATTENDING STUDENTS CAN GIVE PRE-APPEAL EXAMINATION IN MAY BRINGING AN AGREED PROGRAM WITH THE TEACHER. |
Verification of learning | |

DISCUSSION AND ASSESSMENT DURINF THE TEACHING. THE OBJECTIVE OF TEACHING IS ACHIEVED BY PASSING THE EXAMINATION WITH THIRTY-ONE EVALUATION. THE EXAMINATION IS ORAL AND ALLOWS TO ESTABLIH: 1)THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THE COURSE; 2)THE STUDENT’S ABILITY TO EXPOSE (LANGUAGE PROPERTIES, SYNTHESIS AND ARGUMENTATION SKILLS). THE MINIMUM VOTE IS 18/30. THE PRAISE IS GIVEN TO THE STUDENT WHO REACHES THE MAXIMUM VOTE OF 30/30 AND IS ABLE TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ACQUIRED ALSO IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS FROM THOSE PROPOSED IN LESSON. |
