THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAJOR MOMENTS OF ITALIAN, EUROPEAN AND WORLD HISTORY OF THE EARLY MODERN HISTORY (FROM THE END OF THE FIFTEENTH CENTURY TO THE BEGINNING OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY) AND OF THE STRUCTURAL AND LONG-TERM GEOGRAPHICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXTS OF REFERENCE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL: - ACQUIRE THE MAIN TOPICS OF THE MODERN AGE AND THE RHYTHMS OF A WORLD IN RAPID AND CONTINUOUS SOCIAL, POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION; - UNDERSTAND THE CONSTANT INTERLACEMENT BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS OF THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL, INSTITUTIONAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY, AS WELL AS THE ELEMENTS OF GREATER NOVELTY AND CHARACTERIZATION OF THE MODERN AGE, INCLUDING THE AWARENESS OF THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN MEN AND THE ENVIRONMENT IN TIME AND SPACE.. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - KNOW HOW TO DEVELOP ORIGINAL APPROACHES AND INTUITIONS TO HISTORICAL CHARACTERS, WHICH HAVE DESIGNED THE FISIONOMY OF THE MODERN AGE - EXPERTLY EXAMINE THE RICH REPERTOIRE OF DOCUMENTS AND MATERIALS, WHICH ARE THE BASIS OF HISTORICAL STUDIES RELATING TO THE MODERN AGE. - RESOLVE AND TRANSLATE WITH CRITICAL AWARENESS THE CRITICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE TOPICS ADDRESSED IN ORDER TO FACE THE GREAT FRAMEWORKS OF THE MODERN AGE. MAKING JUDGEMENTS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - SELECT THE PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE NEED TO "UPDATE" THE HISTORICAL STUDY, OR FIND OUT, IN THE TRADITION OF THE PAST, THE TRACES OF THE SOCIO-CULTURAL DYNAMICS OF OUR MOST TOPICAL ISSUES;; - IDENTIFY THE PROCESS OF GRADUALLY OVERCOMING HISTORIOGRAPHICAL, EVEN CLASSICAL ISSUES, IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE MOST GENERAL HORIZON OF RELATIONS BETWEEN HISTORICAL FACTS AND PROCESSES OF MODERNITY; - DISCOVER NEW KEYS TO READING AND INTERPRETING THE IDEA OF THE MODERN, INTERESTING THE PAST THROUGH THE EXAMINATION OF UNEXPLORED RELATIONS BETWEEN EPISODES AND PHENOMENA, WHICH ARISE WELL BEYOND THE LOCAL OR REGIONAL HISTORICAL SCALE. COMMUNICATION SKILLS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - HAVE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT MULTIPLE THEMES, WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO A DEEP KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORIOGRAPHICAL MATTERS RELATING TO MODERN HISTORY; - PRESENT AND DISCUSS, THROUGH TEXTS OR VIRTUAL TOOLS, HISTORIOGRAPHICAL ISSUES WITH THEIR OWN PROCESSING. LEARNING SKILLS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - USE THE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHICAL TOOLS AND THE COMPUTER RESOURCES FOR ANALYSIS AND ARCHIVING; - CARRY OUT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS, ADVERTISING OR LITERARY; - PROCEED WITH THE CONTINUOUS UPDATING OF YOUR KNOWLEDGE, USING THE REFERENCE TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE |
