MAURIZIO MERICO Curriculum

Maurizio Merico is Full Professor of Sociology of cultural and communicative processes at the Department of Political and Social Studies - University of Salerno.

Qualifications: Degree in Sociology (1997); PhD in Sociology (2001).

Fellowships: Post-doc - University of Salerno (2001-2002); INJEP (2002-2003); Fulbright (2005).

Main research topics: sociology of culture; sociology of education; sociology of youth cultures; youth work and non formal education.

Teaching: he currently teaches "Sociology of cultural and educational processes" at the BA in Sociology, "Sociology of education" at the MA in Primary education, "Sociology of youth cultures" at the MA in Sociology and local policies, "Sociology of sports cultures" at the MA in Management of sports and physical activities for social well-being of the University of Salerno.

Scientific tasks: director (with Gennaro Iorio) of the book series "Interstizi", Lezioni (Milan); scientific director of the REadY lab (Reasearch on non-formal Education and Youth work); scientific director of "Youth Wiki - Italy", funded under Erasmus+; scientific coordinator of the Italian research unit of the ASKing YOUth project, funded under Erasmus +.

Institutional tasks: he is coordinator of the CTO of the MA in Management of sports and physical activities for social well-being at the University of Salerno; Deputy-President of the Institut für Generationen- und Bildungsforschung (GENESIS); Deputy-President for Europe of the Board of RC34 "Sociology of Youth" of the ISA - International Sociological Association.

Conferences and seminars: he delivered papers in national and international seminars and meetings on: youth cultures and lifestyles; the history of the sociology of youth; youth education and socialisation; folklore; religious pluralism.
