Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS AT PROVIDING THE STUDENTS WITH A LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE EQUIVALENT TO LEVELS A1/A2 OF THE CEFR. GRAMMATICAL, MORPHOSYNTACTIC AND LEXICAL STRUCTURES OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE WILL BE INTRODUCED THROUGH THE READING AND THE ANALYSIS OF TEXTS ALSO USEFUL FOR THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE CIVILIZATION IN GERMAN SPEAKING COUNTRIES. BY THE END OF THE COURSE, STUDENTS WILL HAVE ACQUIRED THE BASIC STRUCTURES OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE SYSTEM AND WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE IN DAILY CONTEXTS, UNDERSTAND SHORT AND SIMPLE TEXTS, TAKE NOTES AND WRITE SHORT TEXTS CONCERNING IMMEDIATE NEEDS.
Prerequisites
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF GERMAN IS NOT COMPULSORY; GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN IS REQUIRED.

THE COURSE AIMS AT PROVIDING THE STUDENTS WITH THE BASIC LINGUISTIC TOOLS IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND AND PRODUCE SPOKEN AND WRITTEN TEXTS IN GERMAN. TO THIS END, THE COURSE WILL DEAL WITH THE BASIC GRAMMATICAL, MORPHO-SYNTACTIC AND LEXICAL STRUCTURES OF GERMAN (A1). INTEGRAL PART OF THE PROGRAM WILL BE ALSO THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF GERMAN LINGUISTICS, BESIDES THE ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF HISTORICAL, POLITICAL AND ADVERTISING TEXTS AND ELEMENTS OF CIVILIZATION IN GERMAN SPEAKING COUNTRIES (LAND UND LEUTE, GESELLSCHAFT, BILDUNGSYSTEM, KULTUR, FESTE, POLITIK, WIRTSCHAFT).
Teaching Methods
ATTENDANCE IN CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, THOUGH NOT COMPULSORY. THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT THROUGH ONE-TO-ONE LESSONS WITH VIDEO PROJECTOR, WORKSHOPS, PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES IN CLASSROOM OR LABORATORY HELD BY MOTHERTONGUE EXPERTS. CLASSES AND SEMINARS WILL BE HELD BY EXTERNAL PROFESSORS, SOME OF WHICH AS PART OF THE ERASMUS+ PROJECT. COURSE MATERIALS WILL BE AVAILABLE BOTH TO ATTENDING AND NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS.
Verification of learning
LEARNING OUTCOMES WILL BE VERIFIED THROUGH THREE ASSESSMENT TEST, WRITTEN AND ORAL (GRAMMAR, SHORT COMPOSITION AND FINAL REFERAT IN GERMAN). THE ORAL EXAM WILL DEAL WITH THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS: SHORT PRESENTATION, GRAMMAR AND LEXICON, LANDESKUNDE AND GERMAN LINGUISTICS. BOTH WRITTEN AND ORAL EXAMS ARE NOT PROPEDEUTIC FOR THE ORAL EXAM, BUT STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES IS ALWAYS CERTIFIED BY AN EXAM WITH THE PASS MARK SET TO 18 OUT OF 30.

STUDENTS WHO HAVE INTERNATIONAL LINGUISTIC CERTIFICATES OF GERMAN CAN REQUIRE THEIR RECOGNITION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SCHEMES AND PROCEDURES AVAILABLE IN THE STUDENT GUIDE. EVERY CERTIFICATE CAN BE USED ONLY ONCE. THE RELEASE DATE OF THE CERTIFICATE MUST BE NO MORE THAN 24 MONTHS OLD.
