Objectives
THE COURSE OUTLINES THE LONG-TERM EVOLUTION OF THE TOURISM SECTOR IN ITS DIFFERENT TYPOLOGIES. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE IS TO ANALYZE, IN A DIACHRONIC KEY, THE DYNAMICS, PECULIARITIES AND ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL FACTORS AT THE BASIS OF THE DIFFERENT INTERPRETATIVE PARADIGMS OF THE TOURISM PHENOMENON, IN ORDER TO HIGHLIGHT THE MAIN STRATEGIC POINTS THAT HAVE MARKED THE SECTOR FROM THE FIRST PRIMORDIAL FORMS OF TOURISM UP TO THE MORE STRUCTURED ONES TYPICAL OF THE CONTEMPORARY AGE.

AT THE END OF THE COURSE, STUDENTS WILL KNOW THE BASIC OUTLINES OF THE LONG-TERM EVOLUTION OF THE TOURISM SECTOR IN ITS TYPOLOGIES AND WILL BE ABLE TO ANALYZE THE UNDERLYING FACTORS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF DEMAND AND SUPPLY OF TOURISM PRODUCTS. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO EVALUATE THE ROLE, IN HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE, OF TOURISM UNDER THE ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, CULTURAL PROFILE. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE DIACHRONIC CHANGES THAT, IN RESPONSE TO TOURIST MOTIVATIONS/EXPECTATIONS, ARE CONNECTED TO ECONOMIC POLICIES, CULTURAL TRANSFORMATIONS, BUSINESSES AND MARKETS.

STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ACQUIRED AT THE END OF THE COURSE, IN ORDER TO INTERPRET THE PECULIARITIES OF TOURISM DEMAND AND SUPPLY AND THE FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE DYNAMICS OF THE SECTOR. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANALYZE THE ROLE OF THE TOURISM INDUSTRY AS A FACTOR OF ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT; THEY WILL ALSO DEVELOP AN ADEQUATE COMPETENCE IN EVALUATING THE INTERVENTIONS OF PUBLIC BODIES, PRIVATE SUBJECTS AND TRADE ASSOCIATIONS IN THE PROMOTION AND VALORIZATION OF TOURISM IN AN INCREASINGLY GLOBALIZED ECONOMY. THROUGH AN OVERALL VISION OF THE TOURISM PHENOMENON, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO EVALUATE ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS AND SOLVE REAL APPLICATION PROCESSES.
