LEARNING OUTCOMES AND SKILLS TO ACQUIRE LEARNING, THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE SPECIFIC MANUALS AND THEORETICAL TREATIES AND THROUGH THE VERIFICATION OF REAL EXAMPLES, ANY METHODS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS TO UNDERSTAND AND ANALYZE THE ORGANIZATION OF A CONSTRUCTION - TRADITIONAL AND MODERN - FROM CONSTRUCTIVE, FUNCTIONAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL POINT OF VIEW. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING SKILLS KNOWING MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTIVE TECHNIQUES USED IN BUILDING OVER TIME, FROM TRADITIONAL IN SUPPORTING MASONRY TO THOSE IN STEEL AND REINFORCED CONCRETE. UNDERSTANDING THE STRUCTURAL SYSTEM AND ISSUES ABOUT THE BUILDING WRAP. VALUATION AND UNDERSTANDING SKILLS APPLIED ABILITY TO ANALYZE AN EXISTING BUILDING THROUGH ARCHIVE STUDIES AND GEOMETRIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL SURVEYS, INCLUDING THE NATURE AND TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DIFFERENT BUILDING ELEMENTS. MAKING JUDGMENTS ABILITY TO INTERPRET THE TECHNICAL-CONSTRUCTIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF BUILDINGS IN ACCORDING TO THE HISTORICAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL CONTEXT. COMMUNICATION SKILLS ABILITY TO WORK IN TEAM IN THE ANALYSIS PROJECT OF AN EXISTING BUILDING AND TO EXPOSE ORALLY ALL TOPICS DISCUSSED DURING THE COURSE. LEARNING SKILLS ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND LEARN INDEPENDENTLY ANY INNOVATIONS IN THE SCOPE OF CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES AND BUILDING MATERIALS. |
Prerequisites | |
---|---|
FOR A SUCCESSFUL ACHIEVEMENT OF THE FIXED OBJECTIVES, BASIC KNOWLEDGE IS REQUIRED IN REFERENCE TO SURVEY AND GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION METHODS. THEREFORE, IS PRELIMINARY THE EXAMINATION OF DRAWING ARCHITECTURE I |
Contents | |

- INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE: DEFINITIONS AND DIMENSIONS OF ARCHITECTURE; - BUILDING SYSTEMS AND STRUCTURE. TRADITIONAL BUILDING MATERIALS: NATURAL STONES, CLAY AND BRICKS, WOOD, MORTARS. - TRADITIONAL BUILDING SYSTEMS: VERTICAL SUPPORTS, FOUNDATIONS, HORIZONTAL STRUCTURES, ROOFS, STAIRS. FRAMED BUILDINGS: FRAMED SYSTEMS; HORIZONTALLY RESISTANT STRUCTURES. - FERROUS MATERIALS: IRON, CAST IRON, STEEL; MANUFACTURING PROCESSES. - STEEL STRUCTURES: CONNECTION SYSTEMS, VERTICAL SUPPORTS AND HORIZONTAL STRUCTURES, PORTALS; RUST PROTECTION, FIRE PROTECTION; MANUFACTURING PROCESSES. THE CEMENT-CONCRETE: COMPONENTS; FRESH CONCRETE AND HARDENED CONCRETE; ADDITIVES; DOSING AND MIXING; CASTING AND CURING. - REINFORCED CONCRETE BUILDINGS: REINFORCED CONCRETE; VERTICAL SUPPORTS AND HORIZONTAL STRUCTURES, FRAMES, EXPANSION JOINTS; - PRESTRESSED CONCRETE, PRECAST REINFORCED CONCRETE BUILDINGS. - STEEL AND REINFORCED CONCRETE BUILDING ELEMENTS: FOUNDATIONS, FLOORS, STAIRS, BORDER ELEMENTS. - TECHNOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF AN EXISTING BUILDING: HISTORICAL AND ARCHIVAL RESEARCH; PHOTOGRAPHIC, GEOMETRIC, TECHNOLOGICAL AND FUNCTIONAL SURVEY; GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION. |
Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
THE COURSE COVERS LECTURES AND CLASSROOM PRACTICALS. LECTURES LEAD TO A TECHNOLOGY SCAN THROUGH THE COGNITIVE AND TRANSFORMATIVE BUILDING PROCESSES. PRACTICALS CONSIST OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF A THEME WHICH IS ANNUALLY AWARDED TO STUDENTS, WHO ARE DIVIDED INTO WORKING GROUPS. THE THEME INCLUDES ALL THE COURSE CONTENT AND PROVIDES THE HISTORICAL, GEOMETRIC, TECHNOLOGICAL AND FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS OF AN EXISTING BUILDING THROUGH THE SETTING OF REPORTS AND PLANS. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
VERIFICATION OF THE LEARNING METHODS AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE USED TO UNDERSTAND AND ANALYZE AN EXISTING BUILDING THROUGH AN ORAL INTERVIEW IN WHICH THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE EVALUATED, ALSO BY VERIFYING THE RESULTS OBTAINED IN THE ELABORATION OF THE ANALYSIS OF AN EXISTING BUILDING ASSIGNED DURING THE DIDACTIC EXERCISES. |
