Objectives
THE COURSE HAS AS FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVES TO STRENGTHEN THE KNOWLEDGE IN ECONOMICS ACQUIRED IN THE UNDERGRADUATE COURSES AND TO DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND USE NEW TOOLS, BOTH THEORETICAL (ECONOMICS OF KNOWLEDGE, INNOVATION, ENVIRONMENT) AND EMPIRICAL (STATISTICAL INDICATORS, ECONOMETRIC ANALYSIS) TO ADDRESS A CRUCIAL ISSUE OF OUR TIME: SUSTAINABILITY, DECLINED IN ITS DOUBLE ASPECT, TECHNOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL. IN FACT, STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND ON THE ONE HAND THE NATURE AND IMPACT ON THE ECONOMIC REALITY OF TECHNICAL PROGRESS, IN PARTICULAR OF THE DIGITAL REVOLUTION, THE ADVANTAGES AND CHALLENGES IT POSES, ITS SUSTAINABILITY IN TERMS OF INEQUALITIES AND EMPLOYMENT PROBLEMS ; ON THE OTHER HAND, THEY WILL ADDRESS THE ISSUES OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY OF CONTEMPORARY PRODUCTION; FOR BOTH ASPECTS, THE COURSE THEN AIMS TO HELP UNDERSTAND THE RATIONALE AND NATURE OF EXISTING AND ACTIONABLE POLICIES. THROUGH THE STUDY OF THESE CONCEPTS AND TOOLS, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO INTERPRET RELEVANT CONTEMPORARY ECONOMIC PHENOMENA, TO READ AND UNDERSTAND PAPERS REPORTS AND RESEARCH ON THESE ISSUES AND WILL BE ABLE TO DEVELOP ORIGINAL IDEAS AND TO DESIGN AND INDEPENDENTLY IMPLEMENT RESEARCH ON SUCH TOPICS.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE AIM IS TO LET STUDENTS ACQUIRE AN ADVANCED PREPARATION IN SOME SPECIFIC AREAS (INDICATED ABOVE) OF THE ECONOMIC DISCIPLINES, THUS EXTENDING AND STRENGTHENING THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING SKILLS TYPICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE FIRST CYCLE, SO THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO ELABORATE ORIGINAL AND INNOVATIVE INTERPRETATIONS. THIS KNOWLEDGE WILL BE ACQUIRED THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN THE INSTITUTIONAL COURSE, IN ANY EXERCISE ACTIVITIES AND IT WILL BE VERIFIED THROUGH EXAMINATION TESTS

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
IT IS INTENDED THAT STUDENTS: A) ACQUIRE ADVANCED SKILLS IN THE DESIGN, ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION AND DOCUMENT DATABASES; B) DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO PRODUCE RESEARCH REPORTS ACCOMPANIED BY STATISTICAL TABLES AND ILLUSTRATIVE GRAPHS; THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO EVALUATE PUBLIC INTERVENTION IN THE FIELD OF INNOVATION POLICIES AND FOR THE REDUCTION OF INEQUALITIES; C) ACQUIRE ADVANCED SKILLS IN STATISTICAL DATA ANALYSIS.

THE EXAM INCLUDES A WRITTEN TEST WITH A 30TH GRADE AND AN OPTIONAL ORAL TEST TO SUPPLEMENT THE WRITTEN GRADE. THE EXAM, , AIMS TO VERIFY THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE COURSE OBJECTIVES AND THEREFORE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THEORETICAL NOTIONS AND THE ABILITY TO APPLY THEM TO A COMPLEX ANALYSIS OF REALITY
