THE AIM OF THE TEACHING IS TO ENABLE STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE A GOOD LEVEL OF LINGUISTIC AND COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE BOTH IN WRITTEN AND ORAL FORM AND TO ENCOURAGE THEIR CRITICAL THINKING. Knowledge and skills: THE STUDENT WILL NEED TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY HAVE DEVELOPED THE NECESSARY LINGUISTIC SKILLS TO UNDERSTAND AND DELVE INTO TOPICS RELATED TO THEIR COURSE OF STUDY IN ENGLISH AND HAVE ACQUIRED AN ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF THE STRATEGIES AND CONTENTS OF PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS AND DISCOURSE, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE THEMES AND SPECIALIZED LEXICON OF SPORTS LANGUAGE AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING. Ability to apply knowledge and skills: THE STUDENT MUST SHOW THAT THEY HAVE ACQUIRED THE ABILITY TO APPLY THEIR LINGUISTIC AND COMMUNICATIVE KNOWLEDGE IN INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL CONTEXTS AND TO UNDERSTAND AND USE SPECIALIZED LANGUAGES RELATED TO THE PROFESSIONAL FIELD CONFIDENTLY, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSFERABLE SKILLS. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: UNDERSTAND AND USE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENTLY, BOTH IN GENERAL CONTEXTS AND IN SPECIFIC AREAS OF EXPERTISE; REPRESENT AND COMMUNICATE THE RESULTS OF THEIR OWN RESEARCH OR ELABORATIONS. |

THE PROGRAM WILL FOCUS ON TOPICS AND IN-DEPTH STUDIES RELATED TO THE MASTER'S DEGREE, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION (8 HOURS OF LECTURES + 2 HOURS OF EXERCISES), MEDIA DISCOURSE (8 HOURS OF LECTURES + 2 HOURS OF EXERCISES), SPORT MANAGEMENT (6 HOURS OF LECTURES + 4 HOURS OF EXERCISES), AND THE ANALYSIS OF CASE STUDIES FROM A DIACHRONIC PERSPECTIVE (10 HOURS OF SEMINARS). |

THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL TEST. THE WRITTEN TEST (LASTING 40 MINUTES) WILL CONSIST OF READING COMPREHENSION EXERCISES AND SHORT WRITING TASKS. THE ORAL TEST (LASTING 20 MINUTES) WILL BE ACCESSIBLE TO STUDENTS WHO ACHIEVE A MINIMUM SCORE OF 6/10 ON THE WRITTEN TEST AND WILL ASSESS THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO CONFIDENTLY ENGAGE IN A CONVERSATION IN ENGLISH ON GENERAL TOPICS AND TO DISCUSS WITH LINGUISTIC PROPRIETY THE SPECIFIC TOPICS OF THE PROGRAM AND AN IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS IN THE FORM OF A SHORT ESSAY. THE FINAL GRADE IS EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS AND WILL RESULT FROM THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO ILLUSTRATE, DISCUSS, AND PERSONALIZE THE STUDY TOPICS. |
