THIS COURSE AIMS AT PROVIDING THEORETICAL FUNDAMENTALS ABOUT INTEGRATION BETWEEN MECHANICAL, ELECTRONIC AND HYDRAULIC SUBSYSTEMS TOGETHER WITH CONTROL ALGORITHMS. THE COURSE CONTENTS INCLUDE THE ANALYSIS OF THE MAJOR ACTUATORS AND SENSORS, AS WELL AS SOFTWARE TOOLS FOR SIMULATION PURPOSE ALONG WITH EXPERIMENTS ON TEACHING SETUPS DESIGNED FOR TAILORED MECHANICAL SYSTEMS CONTROL APPLICATIONS. FURTHERMORE, THIS COURSE FOCUSES ON USEFUL TOOLS FOR THE UNDERSTANDING OF OPERATIONS, SCOPES AND PERFORMANCES EXPECTED FROM TYPICAL DEVICES IN AUTOMATIC PLANTS IN THE INDUSTRIAL AREA AROUND THE UNIVERSITY AND WITHIN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING ENVIRONMENT AS WELL. THE SECTION "SYSTEMS' MODEL" IS FOCUSED ON WIDE APPLICATION METHODOLOGY TO ASSESS THE DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF SYSTEMS AND DEVICES. SIMULATION EXERCISES PROPOSE CASE STUDY AND HINTS TO APPLY THE METHODOLOGIES LEARNT AT CLASSES. THE COURSE "MECHATRONICS" IS ALSO DESIGNED TO STIMULATE AUTONOMOUS JUDGEMENT SKILL FOR COMPARING ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS IN THE FRAMEWORK OF AUTOMATION AND CONTROL, THROUGH SOLID AND SHARED CRITERIA. ACCORDING TO THE EXAMINATION METHOD EXPLAINED BELOW, STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO ILLUSTRATE AND DISCUSS THEIR OWN SOLUTION TO THE SIMULATION PROBLEM GIVEN WHILE SITTING THE EXAM. |
