Objectives
THE COURSE IS AIMING TO INTRODUCE THE STUDENT TO THE PRINCIPLES UNDERLYING PLANT SYSTEMATICS IN ORDER TO ENABLE THEM TO RECOGNIZE THE MAIN MEDICINAL
AND HERBAL PLANTS.
AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL:
- KNOW THE FUNDAMENTALS UNDERLYING THE SYSTEMATICS OF MEDICINAL AND HERBAL PLANTS;
- UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIPS AMONG THE MAIN TAXA OF PLANTS OF HERBAL, MEDICINAL, AND COSMETIC INTEREST;
- BE FAMILIAR WITH THE ESSENTIAL DIAGNOSTIC FEATURES FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF PLANT SPECIES, AS WELL AS FOR THE MORPHOLOGICAL IDENTIFICATION OF THE DRUG.
AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- RECOGNIZE THE MAIN MEDICINAL, FOOD, AND HEALTH-PROMOTING PLANTS, EITHER DIRECTLY OR WITH THE HELP OF ANALYTICAL KEYS, BY COMPARING THEM WITH
HERBARIA

Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING METHOD IS BASED ON LECTURES IN WHICH THE TOPICS OF THE SCHOOLING ARE PRESENTED AND DISCUSSED WITH SLIDES PROJECTED AS GUIDE FOR THE STUDENT AND ON SEMINARS OF MONOGRAPHIC TOPICS.
BASED ON ACADEMIC REGULATIONS, THE ATTENDANCE TO THE COURSE OF PHARMACEUTICAL BOTANY TO BE CONSIDERED MANDATORY, THE PROCEDURES FOR VERIFICATION OF THE FREQUENCY WILL BE COMMUNICATED TO STUDENTS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE LESSONS.
Verification of learning
THE EXAMINATION TESTS ARE INTENDED TO ENSURE THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE AIMS OF TEACHING. THE VERIFICATION LEARNING MODALITY OCCUR ONLY THROUGH AN ORAL INTERVIEW OF MORE OR LESS FORTY MINUTES.
THE CRITICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CAPACITIES OF THE STUDENT WILL BE EVALUATED. THE INTERVIEW HAS THE AIM OF VERIFICATION OF KNOWLEDGE OF LESSON TOPICS AND SKILLS EXPECTED. THE EVALUATION TAKES ACCOUNT OF TOTAL LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED; CAPACITY AND SUMMARY OF EXPOSURE, SUITABILITY OF LANGUAGE; LEVEL EXPOSURE; ANALYSIS CAPACITY; EVERYTHING IN RELATION TO DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE PROGRAM. THE OVERALL DETERMINES THE FINAL VOTE IN THIRTY.
