ABILITY TO LEARN: HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE BASIC, USEFUL FOR PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES OF CULTURAL PROPERTY AND CULTURAL TOURISM •EARLY MODERN HISTORY: PROMOTE THE ACQUISITION OF KNOWLEDGE FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL, POLITICAL-INSTITUTIONAL, CULTURAL AND RELIGIOUS PROCESSES CHARACTERIZE MODERNITY •CONTEMPORARY HISTORY: PROMOTE CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE PRESENT TIME THANKS TO THE INTERPRETATION OF HISTORICAL LONG-TERM PROCESSES. |

EACH MODULE CONSIST OF 30 HOURS •EARLY MODERN HISTORY: INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES OVER A PERIOD OF TIME RANGING FROM THE FIFTEENTH CENTURY TO THE BIRTH OF MODERN INDUSTRIAL AND MASS SOCIETY, WHICH AFFECTS DIRECTLY THE PROBLEMS OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE MODERN STATE FOUNDED ON THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLES AND CITIZENS. A SPECIAL ATTENTION WILL BE ON THE THE HISTORY OF THE TRIP FROM THE GRAND TOUR TO THE BIRTH OF MASS TOURISM AND CULTURAL INDUSTRIES •CONTEMPORARY HISTORY: THE MAIN ELEMENTS OF POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY OF ITALY FROM THE NINETEENTH CENTURY TO THE PRESENT, PLACED IN A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE. THE COURSE INVOLVES ANALYSIS OF CULTURAL MEMORY, ITS CONSTRUCTION, RECEPTION AND LOSS; AND STUDY OF THE PUBLIC NARRATIVE AND CONSUMPTION OF HISTORY IN MODERN SOCIETY. SOCIAL ISSUES SURROUNDING PUBLIC COMMEMORATIONS, ‘SITES OF MEMORY’ (OFTEN ALSO TOURIST SITES) ARE EXAMINED, AND THE ROLE OF MUSEUMS, GALLERIES AND THE MEDIA IN SHAPING PUBLIC PERCEPTIONS OF THE PAST IS CONSIDERED. |

EARLY MODERN HISTORY: STUDENTS SHOULD INDIVIDUATE A TRAVEL DIARY, POSSIBLY WRITTEN IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE, READ AND WRITE A REPORT, TO BE PRESENTED FOR FINAL EXAMINATION. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND AND PERSONAL CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT THE DIARY WILL BE ESSENTIAL CONTEMPORARY HISTORY: THE FINAL TEST WILL BE THE REALIZATION OF AN AUDIOVISUAL AND/OR DIGITAL PRODUCT FOR THE PROMOTION OF A TOURIST SITE THROUGH HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE |
