Objectives
THE COURSE PROVIDES THE RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING THE MACHINING AND FORMING PROCESSES, AS WELL AS THE GUIDELINES TO DESCRIBE, EVALUATE, AND ANALYZE VARIABILITY IN INDUSTRAIL ENVIRONMENT

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING THE CONVENTIONAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE MANUFACTURING OF STRUCTURAL MECHANICAL COMPONENTS, BY MEANS OF MACHINING AND FORMING MANUFACTURING PROCESSES AS WELL AS OF THE ASPECTS RELATED TO THE QUALITY MANAGEMENT AND THE TOOLS AVAILABLE FOR PRODUCTION PROCESS CONTROL.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITY T FOR THE RATIONALE AND OPPORTUNE DEFINITION OF THE MANUFACTURING ROUTE OF A GENERIC MECHANICAL WORKPIECE. CAPABILITY TO IMPLEMENT A PROJECT AIMING AT THE IMPROVEMENT OF PERFORMANCES OF A MANUFACTURING SYSTEM.

MAKING JUDGMENTS
ABILITY TO OPPORTUNELY DEFINE THE MACHINING OR A FORMING PROCESSES, CONSIDERING THE WORKPIECE MATERIAL AND THE PRODUCT SHAPE. ABILITY TO PROPERLY DEFINE THE MACHINES, TOOLS, AND PROCESSING PARAMETERS. ABILITY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND TO IDENTIFY THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENTS.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
ABILITY TO COMMENT AND DISCUSS ON A TOPIC RELATED TO MANUFACTURING PROCESSES AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT.

LEARNING SKILLS
ABILITY TO TRANSFER THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO OTHER CONTEXTS WITH RESPECT TO WHAT STRICTLY ANALYZED DURING THE LESSONS AND EXAMINE IN DEPTH THE DISCUSSED TOPICS.
Prerequisites
BASIC KNOWLEDGE CONCERING MATERIAL SCIENCE
FUNDAMENTALS OF MATHEMATICS

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS BASED IN THEORETICAL LECTURES AND EXERCITATIVE CLASSROOM LESSONS. EXERCIES AND PROBLEMS WILL BE SOLVED ADOPTING A TEAM WORK, WITH SUBSEQUENT SOLUTION PRESENTED BY THE LECTURER, IN ORDER TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO SELF-EVALUATE THEIR WORK. MOREOVER, LABORATORY ACTIVITIES WILL BE CARRIED OUT, PROVIDING SOME PRACTICAL EVIDENCE OF MACHINES AND MANUFACTURING PROCESSES.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS IN THE SOLUTION OF SOME NUMERICAL EXERCISES AND IN AN ORAL INTERVIEW AIMING AT THE VERIFICATION OF THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES ACQUIRED DURING THE COURSE.
