Research Interests
In the last 20 years she has worked on several projects related to supercritical fluids in the pharmaceutical, inorganic and food fields and his particular expertise is in micronization (formation of particles, coprecipitates, microspheres) and extraction/fractionation using techniques based on supercritical fluids.
Currently, the research activity is mainly carried out in the field of nanotechnologies applied in the field of sustainability.
Part of the research is focused on the recovery of secondary raw materials and the production of biofuels from industrial by-products or waste, with the use of nanotechnology. The research is based on the study of the high-value compounds contained in the different types of by-products of the food industry and on the possible extraction techniques and subsequent treatments. Particular attention is paid to the study and evaluation of alternative fuels to kerosene in the aviation sector (sustainable aviation fuels).
She is also involved in the synthesis processes of nanomaterials and nanocomposites, the study of their properties and possible applications and the characterization of nanomaterials and nanostructured materials using different analytical instruments: SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray), DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry), XRPD (X-Ray Powder Diffraction), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), Raman, UV-vis spectrophotometer, GC (Gas Chromatography), NTA (Nano Tracker Analysis).
Part of the activities concerns the use of supercritical fluids for different industrial applications, in collaboration with international research groups.
