Giovanni PETRONE Curriculum

Giovanni Petrone was born in Roccapiemonte (Salerno -Italy) on 23 March 1975.

Studies

  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University "Federico II" of Naples (Italy) on March 16th, 2004.
  • M.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering (summa cum laude) from the University of Salerno (Italy) on January 15th, 2001.

Positions held

  • March 2024 to present Associate Professor of “Elettrotecnica” (ING-IND/31) at the University of Salerno.
  • October 2014 to February 2024 Associate Professor of “Elettrotecnica” (ING-IND/31) at the University of Salerno.
  • January 2005 to October 2014 Assistant Professor of “Elettrotecnica” (ING-IND/31) at the University of Salerno.

Main research interest

  • modeling and regulation techniques of energy production systems from renewable sources
  • models and methods for the design of power electronic circuits
  • non-linear control techniques for switching circuits
  • monitoring and diagnostics of renewable sources and electrochemical systems
  • algorithms and architectures for distributed generation in intelligent electricity grids
  • analysis and optimization of high efficiency wireless power systems

The activities are mainly carried out at the Department of Information and Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics (DIEM) of the University of Salerno and developed within multiple research programs funded by the European community, ministerial research programs and collaboration contracts with companies. In some cases the activities were integrated into a multidisciplinary context which led to close collaboration with groups of national and international researchers in industrial and information engineering fields. The exchange of knowledge and investigative methodologies, as well as experimental experiences allowed to achieve significant results and contributed to enrich the knowledg of scientific community.

  • Co-author of more than 170 papers published in international journals and conference proceedings.
  • Co-author of 9 patents (some are still patent pending) in the field of control techniques for renewable sources applications.
