Domenica FALARDO Curriculum

Domenica Falardo is Associate Professor of Italian Literature (L-FIL-LET/10) at the Department of Humanities of the University of Salerno (since March 2015) where she teaches Italian Literature in the degree course in Foreign Languages and Cultures and Italian Language and Literature in the master degree course in Modern Languages and Literatures.

From December 2008 to February 2015 she was permanent researcher in the same University.

She obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) to function as Full Professor of Italian Literature (10/F1) in January 2020 and the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) to function as Associate Professor of Italian Literature, Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature (10/F1) in January 2014.

She graduated in Letters at the University of Studies “Federico II” in Naples and was awarded her PhD in Italian Studies at the University of Salerno.

She is member of the “Giunta” of the Department of Humanities of the University of Salerno.

She is member of the Academic Board of the PhD course in Literary, Linguistic and Historical Studies of the University of Salerno.

She was member of the Academic Board of the PhD course in Italian Studies of the University of Salerno.

She is contact person for “Orientamento in itinere” board for the degree course in Foreign Languages and Cultures and the master degree course in Modern Languages and Literatures of the University of Salerno.

She is member of the admission test board to the degree course in Foreign Languages and Cultures of the University of Salerno.

She was member of the Italian Language examining board for foreign students admitted to degree courses in Foreign Languages and Cultures, and Medicine and Surgery of the University of Salerno.

Before being appointed as a permanent researcher, she taught Italian and Latin in high school and, in the role of adjunct professor, Didactics of Written Italian (from A.Y. 1999-2000 to 2003-2004 and A.Y. 2007-2008) and Italian Literature (A.Y. 2007-2008) at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of University of Salerno and Didactics of Italian Literature (A.Y. 2001-2002) and Didactics of the Literary Text (from A.Y. 2002-2003 to 2005-2006) in the degree course in Primary Education Science at the University of Molise.

At the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures first and then at the Department of Humanities of the University of Salerno from:

  1. Y. 2008-9 to 2012-13 she taught (i) Italian Literature including preparation of Written Tests and Written Italian in the degree course in Foreign Languages and Cultures, (ii) Italian Language and Literature in the master degree course in Modern Languages and Literatures;
  2. Y. 2013-14 to today she has been teaching Italian Literature in the degree course in Foreign Languages and Cultures;
  3. Y. 2015-16 to 2017-18 also been teaching Italian Literature in the degree course in Letters;
  4. Y. 2019-20 to today also been teaching Italian Language and Literature in the master degree course in Modern Languages and Literatures.

She is scientific director of research projects financed by the University of Salerno and member of research groups related to departmental and interdepartmental projects.

She was member of the project “L.A.M.P. Leggere per accedere a mondi possibili” (University of Salerno and Campania Region, 2015/2016).

She is member of the following projects:

  • “Alpha-Mente” (University of Salerno and Campania Region).
  • “Piano di Orientamento e Tutorato 7 UniSco” coordinated by the University of Padua.

She is member of the scientific committee of the journal «Misure Critiche» and of the Executive Editorial Board of the journal «Forum Italicum».

She is member of the following associations: ADI (Associazione degli Italianisti), SISSD (Società Italiana di Studi sul Secolo XVIII) and AIPI (Associazione Internazionale dei Professori di Italiano).

She has taken part as speaker in national and international conferences.

Her study and research interests, mostly regarding the philological and literary field, mainly concern epistolography and poetry in the 16th century, circulation of ideas and relationships between literature and civil life in the southern Enlightenment. Among her works: the critical edition of Nicolò Franco’s unpublished letters (Epistolario 1540-1548. Ms. Vat. Lat. 5642, Stony Brook, NY, Forum Italicum Publishing, 2007), of two unpublished early works of Giuseppe Maria Galanti (Scritti giovanili inediti, Napoli, Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici Press, 2011), of a work of theory and sociology of the novel in the 18th century by the same author (Osservazioni intorno a’ romanzi, Napoli, Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici, 2018); essays about the 16th and 18th centuries’ culture and literature and didactic publications about the literary text.
