Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE BASIC KNOWLEDGE FOR SOCIAL ANALYSIS STARTING FROM THE GENERAL THEORIES OF SOCIOLOGY AND PROGRESSIVELY ARRIVING AT CURRENT TOPICS OF PARTICULAR RELEVANCE FOR REFLECTION ON EDUCATIONAL PROCESSES.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOW THE CONCEPTUAL BASIS OF THE SOCIOLOGICAL DISCIPLINE AND THOSE METHODOLOGIES OF SOCIAL RESEARCH THAT MAY BE RELEVANT IN EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONS.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: BEING ABLE TO CARRY OUT ANALYZES ON THE SOCIAL CONTEXT AND LEARN THE BASIC TECHNIQUES TO FRAME EDUCATIONAL PROBLEMS SOCIOLOGICALLY

AFTER HAVING ADDRESSED THE MAIN SOCIOLOGICAL THEORIES, THE COURSE ILLUSTRATES THE PROCESSES THAT RELATE TO THE SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION OF DIFFERENCES AND THEIR MANAGEMENT.
PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO SOCIALIZATION PROCESSES AND HOW THESE PARTICIPATE IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE OTHER FROM THESELF IN BOTH EDUCATIONAL AND EXTRA EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENTS.

PARTICULAR ATTENTION IS DEDICATED TO THE TOPIC OF GENDER AND SEXUALITY EDUCATION AND TO THE MOST USEFUL METHODOLOGICAL STRATEGIES FOR PROMOTING A CULTURE OF INCLUSION AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES.

- INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF SOCIOLOGY: TOPICS, METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES, EXPENDABILITY.

- ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN THEORIES ON SOCIALIZATION
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 36 HOURS OF TEACHING, WITH LESSONS, SEMINARS AND TUTORIALS. THE LATTER WILL FOCUS ON:
- EXAMINING THE TOPICS ADDRESSED DURING THE COUSE THROUGH CASE STUDIES;
- READING AND INTERPRETATING THE RESULTS OF EMPIRICAL RESEARCH;
- READING AND UNDERSTANDING PARTS OF THE CLASSICS OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY SOCIOLOGY
Verification of learning
THE EXAM INCLUDES AN ORAL TEST ON THE COURSE CONTENTS. THE FINAL EVALUATION WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT NOT ONLY THE STUDENT'S KNOWLEGE OF THE SUBJECT BUT ALSO HER ABILITY TO CRITICALLY APPLY THE CONCEPTS STUDIED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A RESEARCH PATH. TESTS ON SPECIFIC PARTS OF THE PROGRAM MAY ALSO BE SCHEDULED DURING THE COURSE FOR ATTENDING STUDENTS ONLY.
