Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE OF THE DISCIPLINE OF SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY PSYCHOLOGY, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE FOUNDING THEORIES OF THE DISCIPLINE AND THE AUTHORS WHO DEFINED IT. THE COURSE ALSO AIMS TO PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SOCIO-AFFECTIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THE INDIVIDUAL IN THE SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY CONTEXTS WITH WHICH HE OR SHE INTERACTS AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF THE LIFE CYCLE. SPECIAL ATTENTION WILL BE GIVEN TO THE TREATMENT OF THE FAMILY AND PRIMARY AFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS AS SCAFFOLDING FOR THE PROCESS OF SELF-DEVELOPMENT, DEALING WITH THE DIFFERENT PSYCHIC MEANINGS, BOTH NORMATIVE AND PATHOLOGICAL, OF THE FAMILY AND THE SOCIAL GROUP.

THE STUDENT, THROUGH LECTURES, EXERCISES AND EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES, WILL
- BECOME ACQUAINTED WITH THE MAIN THEORETICAL MODELS OF THE DISCIPLINE OF SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY PSYCHOLOGY AND CONSIDER THEIR APPLICABILITY IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL SERVICE INTERVENTION;
- ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SOCIAL CONTEXTS THAT PROMOTE THE SOCIO-AFFECTIVE DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN BEINGS AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF THE LIFE CYCLE;
- HE/SHE WILL STUDY THE OUTCOMES OF CHILDREN'S AND ADULTS' INTERACTION WITH SOCIAL CONTEXTS THAT ARE MALADAPTIVE, ABUSIVE OR CHARACTERISED BY NEGLECT AND ABUSE;
- IT WILL EXAMINE THE PSYCHOLOGICAL DYNAMICS OF THE FAMILY MICROSYSTEM AND THE NETWORK OF GROUP AND DYADIC RELATIONSHIPS WITHIN IT, WITH AN EXCURSUS ON THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FAMILIES AND THE ROLE THEY PLAY IN SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS FOR MENTAL HEALTH.
Teaching Methods
LECTURES, BRAINSTORMING,PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES AND CASE STUDIES.THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 60 HOURS OF LESSONS.
Verification of learning
THE EXAMINATION IS WRITTEN: A TEST CONSISTING OF A MINIMUM OF 30 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS ON THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE.
